Wish them the best of luck, totally think they should win, totally think they will not win.

They’re not gonna sue Nintendo?

The PlayStation Store is the most egrigiously scummy digital marketplace I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. Especially scummy considering they produced mostly “digital-only” versions of their console and they know many consumers aren’t buying physical because they didn’t manufacture nearly as many disc readers.
Not to mention the store makes regular use of dark patterns.

European countries & the UK have been subsiziding cheaper American prices for quite some time now, to the point where the massive $80 games that everyone was up in arms at Nintendo for are actually cheaper than some Steam/PS store releases.
PS5 store Demon’s Souls is £70, Doom Dark Ages is £70 on steam, digital MKW is £67 and digital Donkey Kong is £59.
The creeping price of Digital Games in Europe is nuts and with things like a diskdrive being an ‘optional extra’ there are way more hurdles buying second-hand. I’m glad something’s being done.

Seems like the era of 30% commissions and anti-competition in gaming will be gone soon, thanks to Epic and their lawsuit against Apple.
Steam is also being sued for the same, now Sony, and Apple has already lost the case and is forced to allow competition.
Sony of course has more of an argument that PS is not a general computing device, which will help them here. So we’ll see I guess.

No reason a game should be 70 euro on steam but 80 euro on the PS store. They’ve always been 10 euro more (60 vs 70 before). Items on sale are also always lower priced on PC. Psychonauts 2 is on sale for 12 euro right now on PS, but it goes for 6 euro when on sale on Steam.

I hope it sets a precedent. Poland is paying one of the highest prices for games in the world on Steam and it’s ridiculous to check which country has a higher price for any given game: Poland or Switzerland. Believe it or not, the answer is not always the latter. I don’t understand why we’re supposed to pay more than EU or USA if our wages are so much lower in comparison.

Sony still charges $70 for new games. Microsoft and Nintendo charge $80….
