I was in the same situation last year!
Only I went from just an i7 6700 with it’s iGPU to a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8GB (which is a slightly overclocked model)! And considering I got the RX for 20$ that was a steal!
Since the RX 580 that you bought is a 8GB variant, it will still aid you in 1080p for a decent few more years! Enjoy your card!

That xfx rx 580 was also my first ever GPU. Then I just downgraded to a 1050ti.

I guess you’re still at 1080p, because that GPU is not going to work well with 1440p or above.

Still a very solid GPU! I’ve an 8 gig RX 480 in my HTPC and it keeps up surprisingly well with simpler or older titles, but even newer ones are doable if your expectations aren’t crazy high.

Hell yea! I love upgrades that jump a few generations to get hella gains. I switched out my 1050 2gb to a 4070 12gb

I know RX 6600 or B570 is better ones but its gpu choice is limited at certain price range.

The rx 580 is still plenty capable in 2025. I still use my reference blower rx 580. I’m waiting on my 9060 XT to come in

Man, I haven’t thought about Kepler GPUs in a minute! My first card was a 660ti, and later I had a 770. That was back when the 2 vs 4 GB VRAM debate was just getting started, lol
