So Mi is better off dead than as NUSA’s puppet poking holes in the Blackwall
Organic_Attorney2107
“Side with So Mi” fans when your netrunner V, who is aware of what the Blackwall is, are choosing to get rid of the insane techno-maniac who uses the mentioned Blackwall even to just turn on a fucking kettle (and who probably about to keep using it if she will be cured on the moon because being the irredeemable psycho):
Because V has never done anything bad to try to survive ever either.
Iamn0man
I didn’t put her on the shuttle because I liked her. I put her on the shuttle because after going through ALL THAT I wanted it to mean something. Turning her over to Reed would have basically just been me doing his dirty work for him, which feels like a personal loss at that point.
Jeremy_Melton
And how she essentially lied to V about the cure, told a sob story as to why we should trust her (depsite her using V to get the cure for herself), and only admitting it when her and V are at the spaceport, has the audacity to play the victim when we betray her, reveals the plan to Hansen which results in Alex dying by Hansen (and her blaming us for it), she sent the Cerberus (and the Chimera) after us, etc.

A trapped animal will do many things they normally wouldn’t to survive and find safety. Do I resent them? Yes. Do I empathize? Also yes.
OneSaltyStoat
Okay, but hear me out: I liked V pulling an I Am Your Beast more than I did the Alien: Isolation reference.
SchlagzeugNeukoelln
What does „being Asian“ have to do with anything?
DrNomblecronch
I’ve done worse, for worse reasons.
More to the point, like I said when I shipped her moonward: she didn’t have to lie. I always would have helped. Because *someone* has to do better. World’s fucked because too many people have been ground down into animals; stimulus, response. People who are hurt go on to hurt people, and around it goes, worse and worse on every turn. Ends up with blood on everyone’s teeth, but everyone starving anyway.
Can’t unfuck the world. But I won’t let it make me another desperate animal.
Background_Vast9182
would V be any better for betraying her and letting her be essentially enslaved by the same government that ruined her body and her life? she’s not a good person but she’s been forced to do NUSA dirty work since she was 19. what is she to do but fight her way out of the cage? it’s exactly what V would is doing too.

JOHNNY, GET THE POPCORN, THEY’RE DOING IT AGAIN!
SarcasticKenobi
She’s an abused slave trying to free herself from a sadistic owner that risks destroying the world
Sure she lies
So does reed, the slave catcher. You can discover he’s lying to you about his plans for song bird at the face transplant clinic. And CONFIRM his lies if you side with him when meyers calls him in the suv after fire starter. Meanwhile Alex warns you about him
Meyers is a cluster f-ck of lies and manipulations. Shes an abusive slaver that risks destroying the world while breaking international laws. And massacres a spaceport that’s supposed to be neutral ground.
Frankly the nicest person in the whole DLC is probably Alex. She’s a spy, but she’s done with this shit and doesn’t yank your chain like the other 3
_____
So
– Help the butchered slave?
– Help the lying slave catcher?
– Help the sadistic slave owner?
It’s up to you who you hate more.
It’s a video game. I won’t judge you for who you help in a video game where you shoot like thousands of fake people, accidentally drive over dozens of fake people, and probably book multiple prostitutes.
But reducing it to helping the “hot Asian woman” is kind of ridiculous.
The_ColIector
Both So-mi and Reed manipulate V. However I do feel like Reed genuinely wants to help somi.
Plus the fancy Erberus or Canto don’t do her Any favors
pokerbro33
Seriously, a lot of people don’t get that you can understand where So Mi’s coming from, and still be perfectly justified in telling her to fuck off.
pensulpusher
She’s terrible. I relish betraying her. Nothing worse than a self important liar.
Riventh
Honestly I think people that agree or go against So Mi and/or Reed have valid points. Thats what I liked about their characters, you can be empathetic or not and both sides are valid
Level_Hour6480
Song is trying to survive, and letting Meyers have her is a bad idea for everyone.
faux_shore
So Mi might be everything listed above, but I’m not helping the people who extorted her and turned her into the WMD she is. If I play a nomad, she gets sent to the moon, corpo V betrays her but doesn’t hand her back to the NUSA
SirGarryGalavant
You support So Mi because she’s attractive. I support So Mi because I hate the government. We are not the same.
fellipec
I would like to betray both So Mi and Reed.
AnonymousJtagger
Do not fall for that propaganda chooms. She manipulated V, killed innocent people, was ready to stab V in the back and run away with the cure, fully knowing V has similar problem. She was ok with V dying, and if it meant survival, she was ready to kill V with bare hands.
FeralTribble
My V is with So Mi all the way until she confesses she lied to him. To which point, he decides to turn her over.
As much as V may sympathize with So Mi, he has been used, abused, manipulated, and made a fool of by nearly everyone he has gone to for help. He’s not letting *anybody* get off with making a sucker out if him. Even if she has a pretty face and a sad story
Ralexcraft
Fuck the corpos is my answer.
LordMuzhy
I supported and saved her because she’s hot, if she was ugly then no way
Von_Uber
I love how it has to be only because she’s an attractive woman, it can’t be anything else.
Let me guess OP, you only side with Reed because he’s an attractive man.
No_Tamanegi
I don’t like So Mi.
I just am able to recognize that the NUSA is worse.
hetty3
I saved So Mi because I love the film noir aspect of the whole story and even though she used me, it just felt canon to do so.
Had nothing to do with me not wanting to be chased by that spider, that’s for sure.
PixelHir
It’s okay when Idris Elba is the psychological abuser tho
ArletApple
I saved So Mi because in different circumstances it could have easily been V. I empathize with her plight and why she did what she did. She had a plan where everyone more or less walked away with what they wanted. It just got shot to hell by Hanson.
Also while my V wanted to survive, he didn’t want to survive that way. He wanted to be a Legend, not the guy who stole hope from someone who needed help every bit as much as he did.
NokstellianDemon
Far from a So Mi glazer. She’s not to be trusted but I can fully sympathise with her and why she behaves how she does. Her story is tragic. So is Reed’s but for different reasons.
TaxesAreConfusin

Cold-Law
I think both of them are terrible so I just go with what my character would do.
Nazon6
Does a glazer include someone who likes and appreciates her character because she’s is those things? Like, bad people can still be well written.
galaxy_ride
I don’t understand the korean queen stands. I still helped her I won’t lie, but that’s because I kept feeling everytime I had to choose between her and Reed. Reed felt kinda, idk forced? Like he just wanted the mission and Song to be exactly what the NUSA planned, correct me if I’m wrong but he didn’t want things to be HIS choice. He wanted what was best for the NUSA, which sadly lead to me following Song and shooting him almost asap because I didn’t trust the NUSA from the start. I’m very anti Large organization in cyberpunk

One of the major themes of Cyberpunk as a genre is the idea that the corporations strip the humanity away from people. The heroes within the genre will often help others at their own detriment – these are acts of empathy, arguably the most human trait.
Songbird is a character who is willing to stop at almost nothing to ensure her own emancipation – and I use that word because what the NUSA / Militech / Myers put her through was horrific, and they wanted to carry on. Songbird’s humanity is being stripped away by the corps, and every action that she takes is out of self preservation.
For V, as the hero of the story, it’s entirely in keeping with the genre to see this, empathise, and help So Mi even though it means throwing away their own best hope at a cure.
It’s not about whether So Mi deserves saving, it’s about V saving their own soul in doing it regardless of the betrayal.
In Cyberpunk, victory isn’t found in winning battles, it’s found in retaining your best human traits in spite of all the shit that the world throws at you.
jab136
Here’s the thing. It’s a choice between screwing over a corp and not screwing them over. So I’m gonna screw them over.

I was already going to help So Mi, but when the twins were killed that really solidified it for me. I knew she was hiding something from me but I figured that it was some complication in the plan that she was keeping from me so I wouldn’t get cold feet. Whatever it was, I figured I would be able to handle it. What I couldn’t handle was being told that the 2 cure doses for us that she had been dangling in front of me this whole time was actually just one dose, and for her use only, so I called Reed and handed her over. You don’t get to pull the rug out from under me like that.
If she had been straight with me from the beginning I’d have helped her all the way. Shitting in the NUSAs cereal like that will make you a legend across the world, not just at the Afterlife.
