Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader devs praise Larian’s ‘immense job’ on Baldurs Gate 3, saying ‘you need really crazy people in your crew to deliver such a game’

You get games like BG3 when the people making it aren’t beholden to any major publisher and they actually enjoy the game they are making.

  2. Didn’t they say the same thing like half a year ago already?

Owlcat deserves just as much recognition as Larian. Their games are so deep and interesting.

class recognizes class. owlcat is also goated with some of the best writings in rpgs.

  5. AN-94_Handholder

If only Owlcat could deliver better presentation on their games, they would get the recognition they deserve.

Don’t sell yourselves short owlcat. Pathfinder wrath of the righteous is a game that holds up against BG3 very well considering the much more limited budget it had. It’s one of the best crpgs ever.

I remember when Baldurs Gate 3 launched multiple reports and YouTube videos of developers attacking BG3 saying don’t expect that kind of quality in our game. Really shows how threatened companies are by a better product. Maybe the companies knew their product sucked and just wanted a quick buck.

  8. If you like Owlcat CRPGs and havent checked out Rogue Trader I highly recommend.

Was a little half baked at release but up until recently it had overwhelmingly positive recent reviews. (That only went away due to Owlcat announcing that next years DLCs wont be part of the season pass, which idc about honestly)

Plus a new DLC drops today.

  9. I’ve been fortunate enough to pick games recently that you can tell were just made with love and for fun.

BG3 is a great example, so is Helldivers 2.

I know I’m late to the game but I’ve only just picked up Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The amount of love and passion that oozes through the screen just warms me inside and it’s crazy to think that was their first game.

I’m told KCD2 is even better but I’m still savouring the first one and I don’t want it to end.

    Gush over.

Or just don’t have somebody breathing down you’re back about what you’re making.

That’s just it. No more of this clean HR sterilizing or ideological/activist messaging.

I want a developer who likes big tits, reads nietzhe, and quotes shakespear wearing a weird mask on stage talking about how the human condition is severely flawed and that’s why every game needs fishing.

I want a developer who wants to be an old movie style cowboy and creates so many plotholes in their story that the community just fills it in instinctively because GOD DAMN IT MAKES SENSE BUT DOESN’T AND IT’S BEAUTIFUL, and thats why the industrial war complex will never die and how giant robots can get cut clean in half by a spunky puckish brazilian with RGB settings on his Katana because why the hell not.

Let Devs be crazy. Please. There’s a reason all of the greats are so god damn weird and interesting.

Rogue Trader nailed the 40k world so well. I think it’s honestly the best 40k game.

  13. GreenRiot

Be good, no investors telling creatives what to do.

  14. Happy_Bad_Lucky

That’s nice of them. Rouge Trader is a top level crpg.

  15. Scorpio989

Space Marine 2 stole the spotlight from Rogue Trader.

Rogue Trader should be the definitive WH40k experience people recommend. I’ve been a fan for 21 years and still managed to learn copious amounts of lore from it.

  16. Game recognize game. People who are even remotely interested in deep and complex rpgs should check Owlcats games out. Wrath of the righteous is a modern classic and Rogue Trader with it’s DLC’s is getting there as well.

its because they didnt hold themselves back, even from the bear scene.
