This seems like a really nice deal. It's the lowest price I've seen and it looks tempting. I currently have an AMD 5600x and 3080 in my system, and was looking into a CPU upgrade. I mostly game, but also stream and do some video (Davinci Resolve) and audio editing. I know the newer AMD x3d processors are far and away the best at just gaming, but I'm considering the 265kf due to my other uses and price, and that at 1440p the gap in performance isn't as large.
Is there another option I should look at?

youll need a new motherboard and ram and possibly a new cooler depending on how strong your current one is
The ultra chips just aren’t all that good for gaming. They’re good at fully multithreaded workloads like video editing. [A 265k for example is slower than a 9600x in games and those are under $200.](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/18.html)
edit: [Didn’t read lol, if you do a lot of editing it could definitely be worthwhile.](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/11.html)
Personally speaking, i do not trust intel anymore, after the 14th gen debacle
Nothing from amd comes close to the 265K at that price point. The 265k smokes amd in audio editing like no tomorrow plus way better latency. Most people who clown on the core ulra never seen a real world usecase comparison and only go by gaming benchmarks.

For varied workloads its an incredible deal.
The only issue is LGA1851 is most likely dead now so there wont be any upgrades on that platform. If you arent planning on upgrading for several years anyway it may not be a relevant issue though.
I wouldnt argue against the cpu. But id just look at benchmarks to compare.
Also look at mainboards at the same time to compare pricing.
5900xt is 16 core and same price at Amazon last I checked.
If you’re buying KF might as well go Amd. 265K on the other hand, i can see some justification for your use case, not that i would buy it in your position.
Take it
Go to r/buildapcsales they have been posting some crazy Intel bundles the last few days
The GPU will bottleneck first in most titles at settings 1440p or higher, which means the CPU doesn’t matter as much as people think in gaming. The 265k at that price is worth it if you do some workstation stuff. If you trust intel and want to give them your money then I say go for it.
The naming schemes are so confusing to me now.
That’s a decent deal tbh.
You have the goat AM4, would be stupid to go intel/change whole platform
Ur next upgrade should be 5700x3d or AM6.
For that price is okay, but you have to remember that you’re getting yourself into already dead Intel platform. If you would like to upgrade later then you will have to buy new mobo and new CPU, even if it would be Intel.
Yes. While Ultra is bad on gaming, their performance on productivity is amazing. In this case, the Ultra 7 beats the 9950x (and other AMD CPUs) on almost all video edition benchmarks.
Similar performance in games to zen 4 but much better multi thread performance than an AMD system of similar cost. But then again it’s really only a 30% uplift in games and that’s best case scenario.
