Nerd Explanation:
Why users tend use AD-Blockers in the first place?
– It is NOT because of Low Attention Span.
– It's because they want to avoid inappropriate-unfiltered-Low-Quality-Scam Advertising.
Solution: Just Remove the Low Quality Advertising. EZ.

it’s not just low quality ads, it’s also way too many ads

  2. Can_you-help

I know the imag but what it was about can someone explain

  3. Hour_Bit_5183

Its not even that. It’s the fact that I am sick of the way things are. Ads should be for smol companies, not mcdonalds and disney and the likes that have all the money. How are small companies supposed to start if they get no attention meanwhile everyone knows what mcdonalds and barbie are. Fuck this horse shit.

  4. sober_disposition

The number of ads on YouTube that are literal scams is frankly quite sad to see. I feel like I should be able to trust a platform like YouTube to not actually facilitate the scamming of their viewers.

  5. airbus29

i just dont want to spend 30 minutes of my day looking at advertisements for products i have no interest in buying

    ftfy

  7. SignoreOscur0

With the amount of personal info they steal and profiling we are subjected to I’d hope at least to see relevant ads.
Nope, all I see is ads for trading companies/scams from Eastern Europe ( I’m do not live in eastern Europe )

  8. bigorangemachine

Chromecast doesn’t have a lot of ads but it disconnects randomly. I don’t know what they did go enshitify it…. but man it’s frustrating

You can just clear the cache and it runs fine… seems intentional to me

  9. I don’t want any ads and will use blockers for as much as possible.

Personally I prefer low quality ads, if I cannot avoid them: they can at least be unintentionally funny, and they are unlikely to influence my purchasing.

  10. Dynam1cc

If I’m honest, I only started using an ad blocker when YouTube began those like 30 second unskippable ads and it would always be the same ad so it was just annoying.

Even today, I’ll turn off ad blocker sometimes because ik they need ads to function, but when they start giving those long ads that’s when I turn it back on.

  11. SukoiSu

I finally moved to brave because the ads were going through Ublock its just so funny them actually driving potential customers away

  12. AwwYeahVTECKickedIn

I don’t want ads. Period. Ever. Anywhere.

We have evolved into a world in which informed buyers make their decisions without the need or benefit from any ads.

The only impact an ad I’m forced to watch has on me, is permanently adding the content/brand of that ad to my “blacklist” of never to buy items. You may say passive aggressive, but there’s nothing fucking passive about it.

    I. Hate. Ads.

Ads are dead, just no one told the ad industry yet.

“Hi I’m the developer of the game “The Tower”

  14. rabidhyperfocus

if it didnt forcefully pull my attention away from the video i actually wanted to watch so jarringly, i wouldnt use adblock

  15. Blink-8

How about actually making the yt premium that’s worth buying but nope, just make the normal yt experience worst so that people buy the so called premium

  16. Faraknights

I just don’t want anything interrupting what I am watching every 2 minutes, the ad being of low or great quality

  17. Reactor4SwimClub

People block ads because they are a waste of time and just don’t want to see them period. No one cares about the quality of the ad they are receiving. lol

  18. ThisIsNotMyPornVideo

But it doesn’t matter for Google, at all.

People who use AdBlock are still going to use other Google products, i.e Sheets, Docs, and G-Mail but ESPECIALLY google itself, so they still get all the data in the world from you.

And if you leave YouTube over AdBlock not working anymore, chances are, you used AdBlock beforehand thus not generating revenue for youtube.

And if you don’t use adblock, these changes won’t affect you so you keep using youtube.

So if a SINGLE person who didn’t have premium before, now gets it because they banned adblock
    its a win for them

  19. Useful-Cranberry5393

unironically this is a brilliant tool I use constantly when disarming shitty ideologies.

  20. automata33

Ok, but it does work for them. Most people won’t switch off of chrome and they can and are making installing a good adblock too difficult in chrome.

  21. Tomytom99

Is muting my computer and turning off my monitor during ads considered an ad blocker?

I think corporations need to realize the best way to make younger people buy your product doesn’t involve interrupting their experiences… Y’know, ads that cover content on pages, low effort/quality YouTube ads, seeing the same thing you don’t want for the 5,000th time in a day. I really enjoy downvoting ads here on Reddit.

  22. mike71diesel

I watch regular old school UHF TV. National channels have some adverts, but they aren’t a lot, and are of reputable brands. Some local channels have a lot of adverts and them are of questionable stuff, like miracle diets, clairvoyants, used cars salespeople and so on.

  23. nekrovulpes

I just hate ads, the concept of marketing itself, and the interference of profit motivation over quality in business, technology and art in general.

I will pirate your software and block your ads and there’s nothing you can do to stop me. The only way you will get my money is if I think your thing is good enough to be worth it. End of story.

  24. Pseudonyme_de_base

I was bombarded with ads ever since I was like 4, when I was of age of learning that I can block ads I started to block them, now I’m 24 and get very mad whenever I see an ad that slips through my ad blockers walls. I can’t handle ads anymore it just feels me with rage and makes me seriously hate the companies that makes the ads.

  25. GracchiBros

Personally, I’ll be honest and say that’s not true with me. I really don’t care about the quality of ad. You could put only your normal prime-time broadcast TV level of ads on there and I’ll block them as long as I can. I’m going to avoid the corporate brainwashing that is advertising for my mental health as much as possible.

  26. DianaRig

Honestly, if there were less ads, and if their quality was better, I’d still be pissed off if interrupted in the middle of any interesting content.

  27. Craigieboy

Personally i feel it’s already too late for YouTube to win back ad watching users. back in the early days when it was just a banner ad or a very brief ad before a video people were not even seeking out ad blocks because the inconvenience was minimal. Now with how bad it has gotten using an adblock has become borderline necessary and now the userbase has gotten used to not watching or seeing ads of any kind so even if they went back to the old style of short unintrusive ads people would still find it annoying and keep adblocks enabled.

  28. AtreidesBagpiper

It’s not about low quality ads. It’s about ads.

  29. BigSmackisBack

Why do they even need more viewers of their ads? Its just greed, they will spend A LOT of money to develop new ways to get round our blocks so they can get more ad money – just take the L, dont spend money to stop blockers and enjoy the stupidly high amount of ad money they get anyway.

  30. Mailman_Dan

Nah I just don’t like watching ads

  31. funya_rinpa

It’s funny seeing all these replies proving OP wrong

  32. thewittman

Been using Firefox and ad blocker for years why wouldn’t everyone do this?

  33. Musician-Round

You wish my reasons for using ad-blockers were so noble. I use them because f*ck google and their scummy practices.

  34. HeimrekHringariki

The more violently they push this the more people they will eventually push away from their platform. Ad-revenue isn’t the only thing that is relevant for a site to thrive. It needs people to actually use it as well to stay relevant. Some will give in and buy premium, sure. But many will just use it as a great reason to finally just stop visiting the site and find something else to better suit their time with. Will it kill off YouTube? Probably not. It’s a behemoth. But so is Facebook, and the only reason people are still there is to keep in touch with their friends, what’s on the page has become utterly irrelevant to most, especially younger generations.

  35. Amrod96

It’s because I don’t want to see ads. I would be neutral about them if they were like in the 2000s, simple banners at the top, bottom and right of the screen.

In any case, only a tiny number of YouTube users block ads; most don’t.

  36. Sure-Adagio6650

They’re so fucking blind, that they pass ai generated child porn. Holy fuck.

  37. TramplexReal

On top of shitty ads, i use ad-block cause i wont ever interact with it. Say i am looking for new headphones. I search through google about different brands/kinds of headphones. Now ads will show me headphones advert EVERYWHERE. Does that mean the ones ads showing me are good? Hell nah, most probably the ones that are advertised most – are the shittiest. So ads have nothing good in them. At least for me. I know what i will buy and where, ads dont change anything in my decisions.

  38. Araneatrox

Some guys block ads because it’s annoying to watch and disruptive. I block ads because they are the #1 distributor of spyware and viruses on the internet.

I’ve worked in IT long enough and with enough security folks to know Adblocks are one of the first lines against shit like that.

  39. onchristieroad

I get ads for fake games I will never play and compensation for being missold cars on hire purchase, that I’ve never bought. Why do they waste this money making me annoyed?

  40. No-Upstairs-7001

I just don’t like breaks in my viewing, so I pay for premium, job done
