Best buy are some scammers 😂

That’s fucking criminal. Either Best Buy ripped him off or he slapped the 1030 in there to transfer his GPU.

  2. Thenewyorkpost

Where would Best Buy get a 1030 in 2020? Brutal if true. That’s what I paid for my rig in 2020 but I got a 3080

  3. SkippyMcLovin

Feel sorry for you for believing that is true.

  4. Repulsive_Ocelot_738

I’m calling BS. 5 years ago you’d be lucky to find cases to finish a build let alone finding a blue shirt who has the time to build a PC on duty

  5. Aggressive_Ask89144

    Pretty sure he’s trying to scam someone else with a 8700 + 1030 💀.

  6. SkirtOne8519

    It’s fake Nobody’s calling that thing a beast 😂

  7. Recktion

    “it’s still a beast”

Seller is obviously a liar. IDK how you guys are really going to trust that he paid Best buy 2k. Why didn’t OP state the price it’s going for?

  8. MudHot8257

I can almost guarantee you this had a 2070 or 2070ti based on the i7 8700k and he stripped it out and threw in a $50 GTX 1030 to resell this thing to someone’s poor grandma trying to get a christmas gift for their grandkid.

The processor and GPU don’t even align in terms of retrodating, a 1030 would’ve paired with a Kaby lake processor, not a coffee lake one.

Edit: listing is an 8700 not an 8700k, cheers to those who pointed that out.

This is not a 2020 build. I’m guessing this post was original in the mid 2010’s.

I don’t know if it’s true but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that he really paid that much. I was recently in Brazil (inland area) a few weeks and I was speechless when I saw the hardware that is being sold and especially the price at which it is being sold. Most PCs on sale have 4 or 5 generation Intel, there are also 2 or 3 generation ones. The most expensive PCs reach a maximum of the 10th generation. The main problem is that this now obsolete hardware, obviously I’m not talking about the 10th generation but the previous ones (even if the 10th generation is already 5 years old now) is sold at absurd prices, as if it were new, just launched on the market. They are sold at a value equivalent to around 800 euros but there are also PCs that cost more than 1000 euros and are assembled with hardware that is at best 5 years old. I’ve seen PCs sold as new with hardware from 12 years ago. A person I know had recently bought a “good computer”, going to read the specifications I discovered that it was equipped with a 5th generation K series i5 with a very small heatsink and an rx 550, he had paid more than 1000 euros for it

Beast, LOL, that boy got fucked!

  12. AngriestInchworm

I used to work for Best Buy and to my knowledge they don’t build PCs. At least not at the stores I work at.

  13. ArenaGrinder

That has to be a satire troll acct. because no way anyone would genuinely do that. Disappointed in how some people lack basic research skills.

  14. bugeater88

he probably wanted to keep the gpu and switched it with a 1030

  15. He says 5 years ago, it was probably almost 8 with those specs, since these were released in 2017. Even then it was high for a 1030…

  16. Briggie

A 1030 in 2020 would have been quite a choice. He most likely has swapped out the card.

  17. MysticalPeace

One gpu swap to a high end from the late 2010s would save this dudes performance and bottleneck but not his stolen money 😶‍🌫️

  18. TinFoilHat_69

He must have had it built during the GPU shortage, 8 gen intel processor is sus

  19. nullusx

Dont feel bad for this. 100% scammer. There’s no way he would stick with this potato for 5 years and claim its “still a beast”.

  20. Zeppelin041

Most these mainline stores are scammers, over priced prebuilt nonsense parts a decade old. But the graphics card doesn’t make much sense here. I think that dudes lying when it comes to that.

Cyberpower is the way to go! Atleast when I pick out my parts I want, and don’t have time to build it myself, they put it together for me and have been beyond nice about everything even tossed me an i9-11th gen 4 years ago when they were out of the 10s without any extra charge.

  21. brownmaningermany

Wasn’t BB, this was definitely him ripping and swapping parts out before trying to scam somebody.

Never heard of buying a (modern) PC with no WiFi card, or pre-built with the stock intel cooler either, but I’m not super experienced either, so open to being wrong.

  22. monasou89

I had to give a sergeant the bad news that his PC was shit and it was always shit when he asked for help. I think it had a GT 730 or something equally terrible. He told me it was “top of the line” when he bought it for far to much money.

  23. The-Final-Reason

Nahhh, something ain’t right. I think he full of it or IQ not up to par.

  24. AmbitiousDuty6422

The wire management is throwing me 🤣

  25. lycanthrope90

Wifi better lmao. It’s getting there but line in is still better. And it’s a desktop, there’s no reason not to just put a cord in it.

  26. pirate135246

He’s almost certainly either being sarcastic or trying to scam someone

  27. Treviathan88

    I didn’t even know there *was* a 1030. Wow.

  28. DEOBRENDO

No idea what I’m looking at how bad is this?

  29. Cellmember

I can’t really see the specs properly but does that say 2gb of fucking Vram? Beast!?

  30. papercut2008uk

That was during the pandemic when computer hardware became really expensive. You might think he overpaid, but GPU’s and a lot of other hardware’s prices where really high.

  31. jaximilli

Why are we posting screenshots of photo viewers showing photos of screens

  32. Climbincook

    5yrs ago, or just about there, i built my rig for 1800. Ryzen 3700, radeon 5700xt, 64g ram 3700, 8tb hddn 1tb ssd, and a 27″ 144hz monitor.

Best of luck to ya dude.

  33. xd-Sushi_Master

He probably did buy it then at that price, but then stripped the GPU and threw in a 1030 to scam someone now.

  34. sdcar1985

If I see an Intel stock cooler and a GPU thinner than my wallet, you got scammed hard for paying $2000

  35. keinearun

    ![gif](giphy|ONuQzM11fjvoY)

    The beast

  36. GimpyPlayerOne

I had a potato but the processor was really nice and still ran most new games (with graphics turned down some). Like I know what the games are supposed to look like but in my eyes it was still better than Nintendo (nes). So it didn’t bother me too much tbh. I think most people are spoiled and seem to have the need to see extreme details. It’s nice but not necessary for the most part imo.

  37. jbaranski

It always makes me roll my eyes when people mention how much they paid years ago, as if that has ANY bearing on what someone is willing to pay today. It just signals you’re trying to sell it for more than it’s worth and you’re bad at it.

  38. Current-Row1444

I say this all too often now but people should REALLY learn what a scam actually is before using the word.

This here is NOT a scam

  39. CakeElectrical9563

I feel sorry for whoever gets scammed by this, but hey, at least if they do, they only have the GPU to replace because everything else looks solid.

  40. WookerTBashington

In all fairness, a turtle is a beast too..
