I always have to change audio output and input from default system device to my actual headset, otherwise it doesn’t work. Try to change the settings. Sometimes, on PC it takes my controller as mic device and have timo change that too. Hope this helps

Make sure you don’t have yourself muted, make sure you’re connected to the party on the page before that. Other than that idrk. Could just be another bug in the game. Had one yesterday where I took a break from the game for a bit but left it on and running. Came back and next game I had no audio till I basically unplugged everything and reconnected it all. First time that happened to me.

Sometimes a full system reset will fix issues like that.

“Why can I hear them, but my mic doesn’t work?” . This makes no sense.

I think it’s a bug because mines been doing the same thing. Hit the Xbox button, quit the game, reopen and it should work. If it doesn’t, restart the Xbox. It’s a pain but one of those should work.
