Things continue to go from bad to worse for the maligned Build A Rocket Boy title as the studio has now been forced to address accusations that it has been using bots to leave positive reviews across social media.

Edit: Never mind. There was no hope

If they put as much effort into building a finished game as they did to their marketing campaign, we would have gotten a finished game

So according to the devs, people are being paid to leave negative reviews, but they’re also NOT paying bots to leave positive reviews?

  3. I love the loophole they left in that they didn’t refute fake positive reviews, but just deny that they used bots to do so.

  4. X box had a ton of positive reviews before the game even launched. All sounding dopey af.

Haha “bots are leaving fake reviews!” BARB: “They’re not bots”.

AKA they used the other kind of AI, Actually Indians to post fake good reviews.

Anyone actually finish the game?  I am about 3 hours into it.  Its ok, its not terrible, not a triple a title though.   Reminds me of a time when I would have been better off renting it instead of buying it.  I read a longtime ago thay this everywhere part was supposed to be like Ready Player One.

The real plot twist is the bots becoming self-aware and leaving *honest* reviews

  8. This has got to be the worst game launch!

Homer: Worst game launch of your life so far!

Wondering if it’s about time for Sony to step in and pull the title like they did for Cyberpunk

  10. Lol, this game has given me so much enjoyment and I haven’t even played it. It’s not often something like this comes around in the industry, pretty magical.

I feel bad for the devs who were just doing their job but this has been a fun hot mess I can’t lie.

When it gets cheap I will probably buy it, doesn’t even look that bad. Just uninspired/bland, but I am fine with that. Especially since the game is apparently extremely short.

The game Build A Rocket Boy by the well-known studio MindsEye is definitely a top gaming product. It contains all the necessary features of a very good game. The experience was enjoyable, fun, and full of gaming content.

👍 The graphics are good and meet expectations.

👍 Gameplay is fun and contains actions that are interactive and playable.

👍 Music and sounds are working and add to the game.

👍 Characters and story elements are present and functional.

Performance of the game is also very high. I did not encounter problems that stopped the game from functioning. Loading times were short and the visuals appeared on screen without delay.

This game is recommended for all users who are looking for a game to play. It has all the important parts of a modern video game. Good job to the developers at MindsEye for producing this game software product.

I’ve never even heard of the game until people said how bad it was after it came out

This seems to be a pattern.

They really should’ve steered into the skid and, once they saw the game wasn’t coming together as the next GTA, pushed hard to make it the most absurdly – but intentionally – messed up game ever. Because that seems the be the game greatest sin: it’s aggressively bland and outdated rather than amusingly awful. Instead of chasing GTA, they should’ve been chasing Ride to Hell: Retribution and made the most comically inept, hilariously stupid thing they could imagine and then sell it for $20-30. Had they gone that route – all the while playing it straight, insisting the game was just Chapter 1 in a grander story of what they promise will be a franchise and a mission statement for the company, a studio dedicated to making true next-level games – I feel like public sentiment might have gone the other way and MindsEye could’ve become a cult classic.

I feel like I heard nothing about this game and I became aware when it exploded in a giant flaming ball of shit

Truly amazing to see day 1 Mass Effect Andromeda faces again

Let the bots decide if its a good game or not before you play it.

  17. Few times I saw any comments from the boss it just felt like he was going the Trump route, anything that isn’t good is fake, made it very easy not to trust a single word.

I never understood how the game got any of the momentum it did. The whole concept of ‘Everywhere’ especially soured me on it. Something like that will only be as good as the tools they used for it and if Mindseye showcases the toolbox then they’re pretty bad. This isn’t even to mention the lack of any actual progress they showcased inbetween announcing and releasing their first game. Its easy to fake marketing but every crumb of info that was shown over the years didn’t even really add any hype.

I hope people learn that you can’t just throw a cool creatives name at the face of the studio, make big promises, and then just expect things to work out well. This has been a thing in the games industry for decades now and we keep on seeing it. The only time I can undoubtedly say it worked was with Kojima.

  19. As someone who was denied a refund from the PlayStation store, let me say DO NOT BUY THIS GAME EVEN AS A JOKE OR IN THE HOPES IT’S NOT AS BAD AS PEOPLE SAY IT IS. It is that bad. It’s borderline unplayable. It looks like ass and on PS5 Pro runs at less than 30fps, with screen tearing. The main character looks like he’s straining to take a shit at all times. The wheels on the car you drive don’t spin half the time. Objects fly all over the world with no apparent reason. Enemies scurry around like imbeciles, half the time they seem unaware of where you are.

I would say don’t even buy this game if it was on sale for $5, unless you would also be ok with putting $5 into a paper shredder.

fucking lol the irony of this game of all games to be pulling this shit after the head cried for weeks about people getting paid to trash his crappy game

  21. This is not the kind of game for positive bots. It is too evident that is bad. Only works for average or mid game,. where some parts are good some parts are undeveloped

  22. Moth_LovesLamp

Any game that doesn’t have reviews before launch is a major red flag

  23. Was this game hyped up/highly anticiapted? I never heard of it until all these posts about terrible reviews. Maybe I’m just old and out of the loop 😅.

The problem with all these “bot reviews”, “review bombs”, and “brigading” claims are that people who make these claims never really have a good answer for… why?

Why would someone go out of their way to write a complex script or program to create bot accounts just to leave reviews for your game/movie/tv show/fandom?

Why would a massive group of people coordinate their efforts by collectively leaving negative reviews?

Why would a massive group of people reach out to various communities to garner support to leave negative reviews?

B/c I’m a little perplexed that I’m supposed to believe anyone who makes these claims are victims when they just sort of hope to scare you into believing a boogeyman is out there to hurt this totally innocent project…

Wait, people are getting paid to talk shit on this game, i have been doing it for free
