Don’t mind the dust it’s been sitting

Perfectly capable of playing games, just don’t expect stellar performance in AA/AAAs made in the past 4 years. I’ve heard that getting 60 FPS at 1080p on Cyberpunk with low-medium settings is doable if you use FSR on Ultra Quality settings.

Apologies for the confusion in the comments, this is a RX580

  3. Miserable_Speed5474

It’ll do well at 1080p with older titles, e-sports game, and emulation.

might need new thermal paste / pads, but definitely check the temps and have it run a benchmark for a bit after cleaning it up o7

It’s both useable and sellable… But you won’t get much for it.

I would use it until you have enough scratch for what you really want, then try and sell.

The RX580 is a legit good GPU, and can still play most games without too much trouble now

You won’t be able to sell it for much so if you have the money for everything besides a GPU you can throw it in until you save up for a better GPU.

  7. MinhNguyen1404

you wont get much from selling it, better keep using it and squeeze every bit of life left in it for whatever games you have on steam

In modern AAA games I’d say it’s good for 1080 Medium.

I have the same one just a year older RX480 strix. It’s great! Mines super quiet because for the 3x fans. Plus it has 8gb, which is major for a budget card. I’m a little sad I switched to a gtx 1660 because I wanted something smaller, but it’s louder and only has 6gb of ram.

  10. nursescaneatme

Not worth the hassle of selling it. Should still be good enough for some 1080p gaming.

  11. Shaner9er1337

Use it and save some money for a year or two.

  12. somguy-_-

It is a nice placeholder while you save up and buy a nicer card.

  13. Virtual-Stay7945

Idk what the rest of your set up is but the rx 580 is as entry as entry cards get. Basically bare minimum

  14. Specific_Panda_3627

AMD, just torch it for heat and ambience and buy an Nvidia GPU, Jensen really needs all our monies. In the future you really need to give more details on what you plan on doing with PC, Display specs etc.

  15. BurgerKid

Clean it off and you should be fine with most games on medium settings. I’m sure some on ultra depending on the game y’know

  16. Reasonabledwarf

The RX580 is what I’d call the “minimum viable option” DGPU. It’s got enough VRAM and enough compute to play *most* games out there at 30-60FPS, 1080p. It’s plenty of GPU for anything last-gen or low-spec, it only really struggles with newer current-gen games. It’s happy to run off of a 600W PSU, has a full 16 PCIe lanes, and is pretty cheap these days (there was a moment where they were going for $600 during the pandemic!) so it’s a great gap-filling card in a new system.

The pc I build for my buddy for christmas has a rx580 in it. He plays wz and deltaforce and rust @ 1080p no issues.

  18. HeidenShadows

That’s the 8gb version of the RX-580. If it’s better than what you have, it’ll be great.

  19. Ronin_2804

Use it until you can save for something better.

It’s not great, you’ll be running lowered settings on most games, will probably struggle on more demanding ones but it’ll be better than nothing for now.

Not much resale value in it at all tbh.

  20. Alarmed-Rock7157

580s are decent cards to this day. My first one was one.

  21. Meechuacon

Sell it to me. It’s not worth anything. I’ll give ya $50 for it so you have some money for your next card. They aren’t expensive 😂

  22. pacmanic

He upgraded for a reason. You don’t mention what games you want to play so the answer needs to be maybe, maybe not. This card is 8 years old. You can probably get a used 3 year old mid range card for not a lot of cash.

  23. Crater_Dude

Carefully take it apart, dust if off with a fine brush/vacuum and renew the thermal paste between cooler and chip. You can also use a drop of silicone oil on each of the fan bearings. It’ll still be good for a few years at 1080p medium to low settings and overclocking it with MSI Afterburner is also an option.

  24. TotallyNotDad

It’s a 580, outdated for these days but will play most games just fine

  25. Bad-Metaphor1492

Depends on your current system specs and the games you will be playing.

If you can afford 9070 or 5070, you’d be good for a couple years if you play big name titles like wukong or clair obscur at 1440p or higher.

Give dual gpu lossless scaling a try
