Let’s take a look at server products then, where the big money is.

  2. llIicit

I don’t think Intel cares, much like Nvidia there is another market to cater to.

What else would you buy this year? Self-destructing 13 and 14 gen? End of life garbage, Core Ultras?

Or cheap AM4 board + 5700X3D on a budget, with the monsters of performance Zen 4 and 5 X3D CPUs on AM5 with at least 1 more gen to come on that platform as an upgrade path?

Intel needs to get their shit together fast and bring back their L4 cache ASAP.

We are a Lenovo shop and recently switched our standard laptop model from Intel to AMD.

About to become part of that market share loss myself. Got a 14900f that’s already crashing anything cpu intensive less than 2 months after purchase. I’m about to just get an AM5 board and a 7800X3D instead of trying to squeeze life out of this POS.

  6. creamcolouredDog

I have completely forgotten about the Intel Core Ultras, I have seen zero builds online that use them

  7. LuNoZzy

I don’t really like monopolies but I’d love to see AMD get a much bigger market share in the GPU market as well. Someone needs to lit up a fire under Nvidia’s ass. They’ve been doing whatever the fuck they want for too long now

  8. nilslorand

the only reason you buy intel in 2025 is out of brand loyalty or if you get an insane deal on a 12th gen system.

  9. Ill_Shoulder_4330

And they didn’t even have to do anything

  10. fafarex

isn’t that on steam survey ? so gaming pc only, on the total pc market the loss may be way lower ( or even 0)

Intel processors are still the best for the NUCs and better at home streaming via plex. I have a 14900k that I got as a free upgrade to my 13900k and never had the overheating issue but I did place that Bios fix…

I’m surprised it is not more- find data on Sales this will be more interesting and representative than population change

I always take the steam hardware surveys with a grain of salt, because I haven’t gotten one in a year and they have a tendency to misinterpret certain parts.

That being said, this wouldn’t surprise me. With 13th and 14th gen cpus dying, and the desktop core ultra series starting off with worse performance in gaming than the gen before it, I can imagine people wanting to try the other side.

I think what’s crazy is that anyone buys Intel.

Unless Intel really improves their CPUs , I will continue to buy AMD.

  15. Flamefang92

Remember that this includes laptops, and way more of those with AMD processors have been on the market in the past two years (and especially this year) than in 2023 and before.

  16. Traditional-Storm-62

I think its crazier how intel still has >60% after all the bs

  17. jfromeo

265K for 299€ is a no brainer for productivity.

  18. Bigboss30

Im just a single person but for the first time in my life I’ll be buying an AMD processor. All previous purchases were intel. AMD seems to have better performance, value and sentiment overall right now.

Plus that 14th gen fiasco put me off.

  19. Dreadp1r4te

Doesn’t help that AMD is the go to for handheld gaming – Intel’s 258v with Arc graphics is good but I’ll be selling my Claw 8 for the LeGo 2 when it drops because Team Red just makes more sense for handhelds.

  20. Spiff2Faded

I can say since getting an AMD cpu ive been more satisfied with it. Intel is still pretty good and if i had no other option i would go for them

  21. Dimrost

I bought a 14th gen out of habit more than anything else (and a bad experience with AMD some time ago).
These temperatures and this power consumption are just not acceptable.

You can be sure that when I have to upgrade again in a few years, the Intel chips will need to have stellar reviews and no less than perfect feedback from the persons who bought them so that I would even consider buying them.

  22. EiffelPower76

My Intel Core Ultra 7 265 works perfectly well in game and work

I really don’t understand all the hate from gamers about Intel

  23. I’m surprised intel is still at 60% to be honest. AMD’s been destroying them in the consumer market for awhile. I’m guessing the business/server market is probably mostly intel though.

  24. Achillies2heel

Laptops and prebuilts are saving intel from complete collapse. DIY is like 80% AMD now.

  25. andromjb

My 13th Gen i9 13900K has been a nightmare lately. I have to run it specifically UV to be remotely stable and with specific RAM speeds at times.

I regret not buying a X3D equivalent AMD when I upgraded a few years ago.

  26. Plane-Inspector-3160

I’ll never understand why CEOs are allowed to tank companies for short term good looking quarters to hit bonuses only to jump out with golden parachute once their short term greed decisions come home to roost…

  27. grimvard

Considering the successs of x3D series, this somehow felt low.

  28. SebastianHaff17

I wouldn’t read too much into figures over recent months as tariffs cause all manner of chaos in supply chains, both from shortages to also basically over-buying to avoid upcoming tariffs which create great figures which then recede.

  29. HankHippopopolous

Ooh I’m one of those 3%.

I just recently swapped out my old i7-7700 for a new Ryzen 9600x.

  30. Embarrassed_Log8344

Intel has had what, 2 generations release since the 14th gen? Barely anybody even knows they exist lmao

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to see Intel get their shit rocked, but I also acknowledge that AMD having a monopoly is also a bad thing. We need competition.

  31. pops992

I built a new PC this year and sketch to AMD for the first time ever, all the way back to the Windows 98 days I have Intel PCs.

  32. iwonttolerateyou2

I need to se YoY. That gives a better picture. Quarterly can depend on marketing and fresh trend.

  33. SuperBottle12

I have a 13600k, wife has a 14600k, honestly they are pretty good, especially at the prices they go for nowadays, they are kinda crazy for gaming at those prices (wife’s 14600k was 164!). I’ve also always undervolted and updated bios even before people reported issues so they are rock solid.

With that being said, I have no issue going AMD for CPUs. They are doing amazing work nowadays, and intel has to stop fumbling over their feet. My next CPU goes to whoever is better at the time.

  34. Akslepios

I wonder what will happen when amd focuses on laptop cpus. Most of the laptops listed on the stores has intel cpus.
