In my area, it's common that people throw these pc's away. I started picking them up due to my previous reddit post. This one was sitting outside near a thrash can, so people who collect metals could pick them up. It has amd xp and geforce 2mx. I don't know anything about the other parts, but seems untouched and I think it works.

Thrash Can would be a sick band name
Edit: it exists!

Holy hell, a Thermaltake Golden Orb!
Never again until NZXT’s Kraken line did a cooler cost so much, look so cool, and perform so badly.

Seems to be working fine
2003 ish. You could play original CS on it. Warcraft 3.
If it was 1 year newer it would have PCI express and you could put a pretty spanking SSD in there and make that think smoke 100* faster than anything from the time.
So did you thrashed someone before or after taking this pc?
It’s a solid base for a retro gaming PC. Best suited to late Win98 or early WinXP. Nice find! I’d put either a GeForce FX 5600 ultra or Radeon 9600 PRO for a solid value build circa 2004.
There’s not much you could do with it now as the Athlon XP is 22 years old (ouch) and would have problems **installing** windows 10.
Blast from the past. I had that same board and the golden orb back in the day.
Isn’t that a socket 462 board? Looks like an MSI K7T266 series…Would place it circa 2001 or so. Run DXDIAG and share the specs!
I think that’s a very cool find and reminds me of my first build with an Athlon 1700+ using the pro series of this board.
Makes sense to find it in the trash
that looks like this will make a awesome sleeper
this case looks pretty much new
or a good retro machine
Red PCB😍
This is where I thrash.

It’s BEGGING to become a sleeper build
Is it for sale?????
It’s in very good shape
Motherboard is nicely populated, must be some high end pc back in the 2000.
The r/retrobattlestations folks will love this one
Crikey I had an AMD XP and a Geforce 2 MX more than twenty years ago. That brings me back.
Awesome retro build. Mid to late 90s
Untouched is right. It’s so clean.
Was going to say, it looks Socket A, I’m pretty sure I built a parent’s system around that board.
What’s a thrash can and how do I obtain one?
Thrash cans are what Slayer drinks beer out of.

Super clean, love it
Ok…
I love the CPU cooler
theres a reason its near the trash
Compared to the ventilation we have these days, this thing is breathing through a straw.
Good Lord.
Time for a sleeper build.
I would keep this get a crt and play StarCraft and Diablo 2 on it all day for the vibes
I love this era of PCs. Just look at that mobo
