Not sure if this is a joke, condensation is going to kill this thing
Accomplished_Tip3597
this might actually kill that thing. don’t do that.

How would ice in a water cooler work

IKEA kitchen island!
I’ve done this for testing OC on my old laptop. XD

Do you think that someone that uses School equipment for gaming is worried about breaking it?

Time for some new thermal paste, my 18-year-old Dell latitude D630 that still runs to this day evaporated to the point where the CPU thermal throttled at like 300 MHz.
Typical-Weakness267
I tried something similar once, but I had the ice pack placed under my fan, thinking the colder air would make a difference. It made some, but it wasn’t really worth the fuss, bother, and itch.

I used to ice cool a Spectrum +2A back in the ’80s. Turns out that in summer computers need cooling.
Condensation might be the end of the experiment though hoss.

Your smartphone can probably run roblox better tbh.

Who’s going to tell him that the ice is water.
zeeblefritz
I played CS:GO with a guy that gamed on a Mac Mini and he did this consistently. Had to take breaks to get new ice.

You see, electronics dont have blood therefore ice doesn’t cool them off, electronics needs to transfer the heat from point a to b, the reason why water cooling works isn’t because its bathing the cpu, but instead the liquid transfers the heat from the cpu to the radiator and the fans push it out.
tuff1728
I can guarantee you that little thinkpad does not need water cooling.
All you are going to end up doing is kill the laptop with water damage from condensation.
spiderout233
Put something thin over it, and place the notebook on that. Should prevent condensation.

What’s cooler than being cool?
Ice cold!

I used to cool my old notebook with a big icepack. It worked for a surprisingly long time. Still, I was very happy when I got a new one.

A few years ago I first started playing Escape from Tarkov on my MacBook Pro through bootcamp and would prop it up on an ice pack sometimes to keep it cool🤷
rawzombie26
I work with these computers on my campus and I can tell you be glad anything runs on these hunks of shit.
But don’t do this, you’re going to kill it. Bring it to IT and have them crack it open, the fans might be broken or the chassis may be filled with dust causing heat.
Amrqo
I think you don’t know how to cool your components properly, cause I would’ve had it dunked in ice water (better contact)

I hate to break it to you, but ice… Is still water
External_Try_7923
Condensation from the outside of the thawing cold pack is not your friend.
I’d also be concerned about the constant heat having adverse effects on the lithium battery causing it to develop into a spicy pillow. I had this happen while using a laptop to play CS:GO over the course of a year. The battery started expanding due to the heat and warping the laptop’s keyboard and trackpad. Thankfully it didn’t pop, explode, and catch fire. I replaced the battery.
But, the condensation would definitely kill it faster and more permanently. Batteries are replaceable if they haven’t exploded. There’s not really any fixing something after mixing water and electricity.

Many many years ago my POS PC was overheating like crazy. I was broke. I improvised. Hooked up my shop vac to the back of my pc and would turn it on when it started to overheat. Worked like a charm.

That will kill it from condensation. Hopefully this isn’t serious.
Ia that contraption one of those things u use to flatten tortillas?

That’s old-school cool(ing). My dad was doing this with his ZX81 (freezer block wrapped in a flannel) back in… 1981.

Been doing it for years. Not enough space in my laptop to put even a thin copper strip on my m2 ssds. They get fairly warm when doing anything somewhat needy

BTDT. Wrap the ice pack in a towel to soak up the condensation.

Wait until you discover the original Athlon overclockers hack setup – a good sized fish tank full of ice and water with a basic watercooling loop, no radiator.
I love Intel’s confidence with their low end shitty processors – they are so embarrassed by them they don’t even want to mention the name, its just an “Intel Inside” sticker.
Also no matter how much cooling that thing has, there is no escaping the hopped up Atom performance.

Just beware, condensation may be a bitch.
