It’s because they heavily downgraded, or downright removed, the euphoria body physics for GTA V.
Which honestly was a massive downgrade imo.

Driving on GTA IV was scary, even in cars you were a crash away from flying.

But to be honest, it fits so much the game atmosphere and gameplay, that I ended up enjoying the driving in GTA IV (I think there was a lot of complaints about it at the time).

Best thing I ever did in gaming was on GTA 4. Flying a heli and accidentally exited mid-air. Got caught in the rotor and got spun around at the speed it was moving before it released me and fired me across the map and when I landed I skidded along the ground for about a mile. Me and my mate were crying laughing.

Now show the difference in car damage models too. I remember being so disappointed the first time I crashed in GTA5 and my car didn’t wrap around the light pole lol

It used to be people could tell it like it was. As time went by, things got more and more PC until one had to fall off bikes PC style too.

    I prefer the 4th.

It’s just more fun. In gta, realism is great. But it’s gta. I play it for a whacky over the top experience.

  7. Physics in GTA IV were on point, ragdoll and vehicle damage… Fun times

Graphics may age, but nostalgia is eternal.

4 looks more animated and flashy, but if you’ve ever seen someone slide off their motorcycle, it looks more like 5.

  10. Were the GTA4 ragdoll realistic? fuck no… were they alot more fun? hell yeah

I wish they change to a realistic this time around. Not a ragdoll.

GTA V is more realistic. GTA IV is more silly and fun.

I know they wont but I’d love for Rockstar to go back to the ridiciolous cranked up euphoria engine in the future

  14. GTA4 had better physics, better fighting, and better drunk mechanics.

I think somewhere in the middle would be perfect

Saint’s Row did it best with the insurance fraud mini game

  17. The downgrade was huge, and disappointing. I hope GTA6 fixes this.

Getting innyour furst car in GTA5 was like “why is my car glued to the road like it produces F1 car downforce?” First time hit someone with a bat “this looked and felt better in GTA4″… honestly the loss of good physics was the main issue i had with the game. Otherwise it was amazing.
