Me and the wife started playing It Takes Two and streaming it. We didn't stream it tonight or else it probably woulda been a laugh. Our kids sometimes watch us play this game. What we read and played so far we thought nothing of it… but omg this scene appeared with our kids next to us… long story short don't play this part of the game in front of your kids. We kept thinking they aren't gonna do it, there's gonna be some awesome redemption part near the end… nope… this scene….fml

Age ratings in video games exist for a reason and while sometimes they are over the top with this, there is usually good reason why they aren’t rated lower. Lesson for the future: look at age ratings. They matter, especially for kids before mid-teenage years.

The way people talk about this scene, I thought it was gonna be the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen in a game.
Not to downplay other’s experiences, but to me it clearly had a comedic tone albeit a very dark one.
Id say the bigger trigger warning is the overall theme of the game being divorce.
You never said what age are your kids? This is my 9 year olds favorite game and he’s been playing it since he was like 7 years old. It’s a tough scene but talking it out and not making a bigger deal than it is helps.
Like if your reaction was to come to reddit and post this then it’s not really about the kids. You might have to work on your communication with your kids cause they are more resilient than you think.

Me and my wife had the same reaction couldn’t belive they did it. She wasn’t able to keep playing after that part which is totally understandable. I know a lot of people were like it’s not that crazy. Which I mean it’s not really visually gruesome I think it’s really a commendation to the writers and actors to make so many people have such a strong reaction.
I get what they were going for with this scene but it legitimately ruined the experience of the game for me. Great game but all I can remember when I think of it now is this frankly overkill scene.

I never laughed so hard in my life as this scene. It was so absurd and unexpected and over the top. *they dance in their daughter’s tears* it’s unhinged.
Never heard of it and had to look up the scene. Good fucking lord what bad taste to the point it was comical, tell me it fits in with the theme or story somehow? The player characters seem like unlikeable assholes and I’ve done renegade shepard.

My wife and I sat there the entire time saying “We’re so horrible.” And “What kind of parents think this way?” Fantastic game. Loved it, but that scene had me questioning a lot of stuff.
