Cyberpunk then and Cyberpunk now

Still the same cyberpunk, choom; just looks different with time like the real world.

Also, I thought those wojaks were sealed behind the Blackwall?

The old cyberpunk gives off a more hopeful vibe and actually fighting back against entropy.

Why does that 18 year old who got his head blown up look so happy?

Man I really love cyberpunk 2077 but I feel this. That old school cyberpunk really hits different, I feel like it has a grittiness in the aesthetic that 2077 missed.

I enjoy trying to rock an older cyberpunk aesthetic while wandering Night City 2077. That’s a style all in itself. Look around, there’s plenty left of it, and I’ve got Johnny on-board to boot, no wonder I’m rockin’ black+boots while surrounded by technicolor chooms.

I appreciate that, for a few minutes, you can visit Cyberpunk Then in-game and shoot the shit out of it.

Themes and generes evolve over time. Cyberpunk existed since 1984, and got shaped by the times it was writen in. There is nothing wrong with this.

Sewing that first pic, I would love to see a company make a Shadowrun game in the same style as Cyberpunk. It would be a very interesting game. Cyberpunk 2077 combined with Skyrim.

I will not allow edgerunners slander, that show is a masterpiece

Honestly, both are nice. Personally, I prefer the current aesthetic. I don’t know, I just find the brighter and less grungy aesthetic to be pretty nice!
Still, the darker and grittier vibes of old cyberpunk is good!

Edgerunners is so fun, but the “operation scenes“ bothered the hell out of me so much, because it was difficult to suspend disbelief even under “in universe“ ruleset.

I like both, but disliked the anime. It felt too… idk, campy? Predictable? Meh? I was disappointed I watched it. Liked the novel though.

The earlier iterations of Cyberpunk are that ages idea of dystopia. Our vision of a capitalistic dystopia has changed with time, becoming more realistic as a result of our own developing dystopia organization of society. What was once a fantasy is now a caricature.
