If you complain about Windows being too hard to use there is no way you’re capable of using Linux

Lol, no thanks. I work with Linux as a software engineer, but there’s no way I’d use it for gaming or as my main UI (Windows is miles better).

Is the adobe suite on Linux yet? I had a virtual machine with mint and it was fine but when your most used apps aren’t compatible you can’t really switch…

I installed Ubuntu last week and spent an entire Friday night trying to get Old School Runescape to run on it. Eventually surrendered to have my weekend of gaming. One day I’ll switch. One day.

If you can get all the cod modding tools, ripping assets and my Maya crack working without me having to put in more effort, then I’ll consider using Linux. Until then, it’s a hard pass.

But see, Hank would personally come over to help you set up your grill, teach you the right temp to cook at, and even give you a recipe for meat rub. Linux users tell you to switch to Linux and give you 10+ options then tell you to follow the instructions on someone else’s GitHub.

I’m about 6 months in and a full addict. It’s ridiculous to have so many amazing programs for free. I feel I have become this meme, badgering my friends and family 😂 Fuck Adobe, fuck Microsoft.

Wouldn’t recommend Linux for anyone using Nvidia due to the performance penalty currently with any DX12 game.
I’ve been happy with Arch with a 9070XT but even that had growing pains until the drivers caught up. The RADV driver should get even better now that AMD is officially supporting it.
FragRackham
Don’t know where to start, how can i port my games over from my PC when i only have one PC?

Honestly, I love Linux, I just built a new computer and only installed Linux (openSuse)in it. I think Linux is an amazing operative system.
HOWEVER, it’s simply not the standard, and that alone, makes things difficult.
A lot of peripherals will not work or will work with some limitations.
Some software will not be easily available and require a lot of effort or even be impossible to run.
Many programs don’t have a GUI or the GUI is not the main target, but an addon to a command line program.
All these things make Linux difficult to use, especially if the person is not passionate about it and windows works just fine for them.
But there are also positives of course, and also we must recognize Linux has taken a great step forward, it’s easier than it ever has been. Even playing games on it works surprisingly well (thanks to Steam & proton).
Also, windows has its own issues and I have experienced some that used to be Linux only issues. For some time now, windows uses generic drivers on your PC (kind of copying what Linux does). This is great, because you get things working (eg your internet) that otherwise would require downloading the drivers (which you can’t do if you don’t have internet). But that also means that sometimes users don’t download the official drivers, and for example I had my 1Gbps internet working at 100Mbps because the Ethernet generic driver said that was the max speed of the port.

Because Linux users are a cult, and this post is a good proof for that
ShadonicX7543
The reality is there is simply no reason for 99% of people to ever use Linux.
At worst, with a fraction of the effort it takes to daily drive literally any Linux distro you can just tweak Windows 11 to be better and then you win by default and have support and compatibility for everything without added effort.
People seriously overstate the complexity of making Windows 11 work exactly like you want it to and without telemetry and bs. It’s not that complicated. Certainly nowhere near using Linux for literally anything other than opening a browser.

If someone blindly tells you to use Linux, that person is either, a) a dual booter, and/or b) has been using Linux less than 4 years.

I’ve tried Ubuntu but I just didn’t vibe with it. I know there’s a million other distros I could try but I don’t feel like trying them all either.
Truth is, if one day I get fed up enough with Windows where I decide I want to switch OS for my daily driver, I’m just gonna go to macOS. And honestly I think that for the majority of people, that will be the better alternative.
Linux is just too niche. It’s useful and it certainly has a place, but it’s not the OS for the general populace.

if you all are struggling with Windows i almost guarantee it’s just you having shitty hardware or shitty laptop with barely any resources, I’ve been using Windows since 2006 on decent PCs for gaming and electrical engineering software and never really had blue screens or faulty drivers, unless of course those times experimenting with custom drivers being aware of the odds
Price-x-Field
I really want to try it. But I hate the idea that many things I do now would be much more complex. And some games just not working. But after I got my steam deck I’ve wanted to try it, and pewdiepie’s video was convincing

Let’s be honest, the alternatives are: stick with Windows despite you not liking it and Microsoft not caring unless there is a legitimate threat to their ecosystem, switch to Apple which is proprietary to its hardware, or go even more esoteric than Linux with OSes like Haiku, FreeBSD, ReactOS, etc.
Somewhat-Femboy
I mean what do you expect? If you complain about something, people will also give you alternatives in all topic, but for some reason people just think at Linux it’s bad
