Reddit boycott fails, in other news water is still wet

I have read a comment a few days ago that the Steam deck will severely cut into the Switch 2 sales.
With it’s ~4 million units sold since release.
Gorgon654
we did it, Reddit!
Spezalt4
That number could be 3.5 million and 1 if they made sales online available or had them in stock near me

Took PS5 1 month to reach this sales-fire.

I’m not surprised at all, kudos to them. The Switch 2 is an awesome device in-hand and Mario Kart World is a fantastic game that just about everybody enjoys. People who thought this wouldn’t have a good launch were delusional

Is there a way to tell which ones are scalped by bots?
bossmt_2
Outsold the OG switch because they had the supply to meet the demand.
I don’t tihnk it will outsell the OG switch long term tho.

Reddit learns that not because they can’t afford something it means everyone is as poor as them

But how? Reddit and some random guy on YouTube shorts told me being able buy Switch 2 easily is bad because it meant nobody wanted it!
Obsessivegamer32
Y-you mean all the people yelling about boycotting the Switch 2 over the prices on Reddit *didn’t* work?!
kiaxxl
I heard it was going to be a flop 🤨

I mean, I didn’t grow up on Nintendo other than playing it at my friends houses (you can pry this Sega Genesis out of my cold dead hands) but am I wrong thinking the Switch is absolutely the way to go if you’re going to buy a console? It feels like XBox and Playstation are just PCs but worse at this point, and Nintendo is pretty unrivaled in their exclusive IP and general polish on official titles.

No boycott was ever going to work against a company that can dish out 30 yr old remasters that sell like hot cakes.
This thing has several anti consumer things associated with it & it still didn’t make a dent in sales.
WordsWithSam
I walked into a Gamespot and got a Mario Kart bundle without a pre-order. Nintendo was ready.
Veloxitus
I’m not surprised, but I’d be interested to see how it does against the original Switch in 6 months. 6 months after the OG Switch launched, all of my friends who were interested in the console got one. None of us are planning to buy a Switch 2 at the moment.
black_bass
Not very surprising, people had issue with game pricing and not the console itself
RandoDude124
#How those boycotts working?
Kalpy97
Already outsold the steam deck lmao
Guitar3544
Not sure why people are surprised. Nintendo has juggernaut 1st party IPs, the system itself isn’t even outrageously overpriced, and their games are generally super stable and fun, and appeal to families, which is a big selling point. My niece and nephew love their Switch. Add in that they are far away from the other console’s lifecycles, and they’re not really competing with anything new in the market. Yeah the games jumping in price sucks, but someone was going to break that barrier. If you think GTA6 was ever going to be $60 even before Nintendo took the first step, you’re nuts. I don’t even play Nintendo games all that much anymore, but I damn well want to play some Mario, Zelda, DK etc just because they’re pure fun. This thing was always going to sell like crazy.
Gausgovy
And it has been kept in stock on shelves from what I’ve seen.

People on tiktok swear up and down that no one is buying it too 🤔

This is like the time Resetera told everyone not to buy Hogwarts Legacy, and [let us never forget the infamous Call of Duty boycott of 2009](https://i.redd.it/wwx5exndw6b11.png).

80 dollars (base price) games are here to stay
Wohoo🫡
SailorGone
I’m glad it’s doing well, but I’ll never touch one. The Switch 1 already had a lacklustre library and now they are just pushing the same games but trying to charge even more.
