Privacy badger, sponsor block and ublock origin combo running in Firefox is working good for me, I do occasionally get this pop up but you can just bypass it, occasionally might need a refresh.

If you don’t want people to avoid ads, then maybe not inconvenience them to an extent that could probably count as harassment if Youtube were a person and not a website.

I use Firefox and uBlock origin, I also get stuck doom scrolling YouTube basically every day. I have not once ever seen one of these popups while my girlfriend who’s sitting next to me occasionally does on her pc. We both use Firefox and uBlock origin the only difference if I’m using Linux and her windows.
I would not be surprised at all if Microsoft is selling people out.

i spend 6+ hours a day on youtube, not paying for premium would be insane cuz its dirt cheap for what it does for me

I do. I get a lot of use out of the platform, and it makes sense to pay for my own use as long as I get what I’m paying for. The skip to highlight function is really useful on mobile and I think the users on PC that use sponsor block actually help feed into the watch time data.
That said, I agree that YT is cracking down way too hard on ad blockers.
