Every year I ask myself why I stay up to watch it.

  2. TheNagaFireball

Underwhelmed, we get the same mixed bag every year.

    – Generic superpower shooter

    – Souls-like boss game

    – Anime game, after anime game, after anime game

    – Indie metroidvania with a unique artstyle

resident evil announcement was hype, but god am i tripping or were there a lot of futuristic fps shooters ???

i thought ill looked pretty cool too, and the onimusha game

  4. bushmaster2000

I didn’t see anything i’m all that hyped about. I think i have so much content to play current and backlog that something new really needs to wow me . There’s just too much content out there . I could not buy another video game and probably have 5 years of gameplay in backlog LoL.

Mortal shell 2, re9, code vein 2, stranger than heaven, acts of blood, atomic heart 2, the cube, game of thrones war for Westeros. I quite enjoyed it, I’d imagine people that actually play a wide variety of games enjoyed it.

  6. dan_baker83

    ILL looks decent.

Everything else was meh. Loads of Souls-like slop these days.

  7. Yharnam_Blunderbuss

Lies of P DLC shadow drop, Onimusha, and RE9… decent

  8. What kind of people are playing all these anime gooner games?

  9. Scooterman1994

Same as usual. Bad show with a few bright spots. Geoff really does only get the industry’s left overs for this show.

  10. A few good things but mostly bland shooters and souls likes. Boring overall.

  11. StarKnight29

Two hours of my life I’ll never get back. Resi reveal was cool though

  12. Forward-North-1304

Silksong troll infuriated me. Way to kick a starving emaciated fan in the nuts.

Honestly, it really shows how games have changed from back in the E3 days.

Back when console’s needed IP to define them, it felt like there was a well constructed and steady stream of hype and reveals every year to get you excited. The companies constructed these things to get you to buy the console.

Now these things feel like “AA game studios who can afford this level of marketing”. I like Geoff Keighley, I like that it exists. But you can tell that since there isn’t a pressure for these kind of shows to let people know what’s coming, you get what you get.

I do wish we valued them a little more, but there were so many things that went into making E3 reveals somewhat risky and complicated. I get that companies who don’t need em wont use em.

meaning, it’s pretty mid but its nobodies fault.

seems like they want to be the “indie” game fest cause almost every new game was a rouge or souls-like made by a dev team of 1 person and 20 of their friends…

that being said, ILL and of course RE9 were the reveals of the show.

  15. Stormflier

It makes me feel like they shouldn’t accept just any game that pays up the money to be shown. That was the difference between E3 and Summer Games Fest. Yes it’s nice to have indie and smaller studios shown. But they have a tendancy to create the same type of games in order to chase trends. This means that I kept seeing the same types of games over and over and over and over. AAA does that too but with AAA you have things like recognizable franchises to get people hyped, more of a focus on one or two games, more in depth, not the same Single A or Double A game over and over and over.

I’d say the indie studios and solo developers are fine, it was mostly the smaller non AAA studios. Anime Gacha, Soulsborne, Horror Shooter, over and aover and over.

  16. Curlytoothmrman

Weak as fuck. Literally not a single game I was interested in.

  17. trowgundam

Meh, nothing for me. Personally I was more satisfied by the State of Play the other day. Final Fantasy Tactics and Digimon Story had me hooked. Only wish the two of them weren’t releasing so close together.

  18. FlashPost01

RE9 by far the standout… the rest was MID…

Hoping Xbox comes up with the goods at the weekend… 😅

  19. NeonNodzz

    I fell asleep.

I’m glad I did, wasn’t much to see. SF6 season 3, Onimusha, that’s about it for me.

  20. Illusionaryvoice

Most of it seemed like it could be one giant trailer if you took out the breaks between.

  21. bonecollector5

Man the people in these comments… If nothing at all in this showcase interested you you need to seriously expand your gaming horizons… There was plenty of interesting stuff.

  22. Regular-Hawk2021

4 out of 10 I’d say. Pretty bad with a couple neat things

  23. Illustrious-Hippo-38

This was pretty bad. People have such shirt attention spans that RE9 closing it will make people forget how boring 99 percent of it was.

  24. averyuniqueuzername

Souls like games have become the new battle royale. Boring uninspired cash grabs that everyone and their mother thinks they need a crack at making. that’s all I took from it.

Also the split gate guy saying he’s tired of playing the same cod and then proceeding to drop the most basic battle royale ever gave me a giggle

  25. ThrowbackGaming

It felt like a lot of the games were very similar. Was pretty disinterested in pretty much everything if I’m being honest.

  26. xkeepitquietx

I need to see more Onimusha. It looked more like a soulslike then I would want.

  27. zakary3888

I’m excited about the marvel side scroller….didn’t see much else tbh

  28. BadSerious

Lies of P DLC, Stranger than Heaven, and RE9 were hype. Usually I like AA games as well, but this specific SGF felt like there were way too many anime based games.

  29. TheSqueeman

Capcom, RGG Studio’s and IO carried that show so fucking hard, that show was legitimately one of the worst E3 style shows I’ve seen in a minute
