NVIDIA Dominates AIB GPU Market With 92% Share In Q1 2025, AMD Drops To 8% & Intel To 0%

  1. Damn it AMD, my first gaming GPU was a Radeon HD5770. Quite amazing how they managed to ride the GPU division straight into the ground, full speed, no breaks.

But MLID just said that NVIDIA’s market share is FAKE and that AMD is selling more cards than them???
    Grifters gonna grift

AMD needs to work with system integrators to sell their gpu’s in pre-built systems. AIB’s are the reason why the 3060 is the most popular right now.

As always, the gpu that meets my needs and budget will be bought. Market dominance has no bearing on my purchases.

You can be an nvidia fan and still root for competition. This news isn’t good regardless of who you like.

AMD is responsible for this. The RX 6000 series was the most competitive they had been at the high end in a long long time. Unfortunately they got caught off guard with DLSS 2 which is not their fault. But why didn’t they push all the emergency buttons and respond to it as soon as reasonably possible?

There was a 2 year gap between the release of DLSS 2 and RX 7000 series. They absolutely should have had FSR 4 at the launch of the 7000 series. We know from Intel and Sony that creating an ML based upscaler isn’t a forever project. Had AMD done that we would be looking at a very different GPU landscape today.

Maybe they shoukd be making product that compete on performance and VRAM instead of just making cheaper cards ..

AMD scalps their GPUs, the 9070XT is 20% over MSRP months after launch while 5070s are MSRP. Before AMD had to slash prices on bigger die inefficient cards to compete like the VEGA56 when the 1660Ti launched. Now they have fatter profit margins and want even more, it’s a duopoly their fine not gaining market share if they can agree with Nvidia to keep prices high. Buy the better GPU don’t fanboy over companies.

I recently did a new build, and switched to AMD for the processor, this is my first non Intel computer ever. If AMD would have released a high end card I would have been much more tempted to move away from Nvidia but they didn’t so I just got a 5080.

AMD is incredible at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

b-b-b-but nvidia paper launch, no stock, mindfactory. I was lied to by reddit!

  13. TheFabiocool

Stop bursting reddits bubble please, people will feel bad

  14. Sixguns1977

I don’t buy that 0% stat. I’ve seen people buying Intel cards.

  15. n19htmare

    lol.

I’m not laughing because of Nvidia’s dominance. Thats bad for every one of us.

I’m laughing because of the bubble Reddit, reviewers and especially this sub lives in.

Just want to add that ATI had nearly 50% of the dGPU market when AMD acquired them.

Additionally, AMD managed to lose 10% market share during a period when you could literally sell any card at any price, when simply making a card meant a sale.

It’s time to stop blaming everyone else and start taking a hard look at where the problems may be. That includes the online armies of “Team Red”.

Nowhere in the article does it spell out what this acronym means

  17. TheSuppishOne

If AMD had a 7900 XTX equivalent card this year that actually did ray tracing well, they’d dominate the market. It shouldn’t be a surprise that people want more features when they’re spending this kind of money.

  18. EdzyFPS

Where do they get this information from?

  19. Because AMD runs an inferior GPU while also refusing to discount it to a price that’s low enough to motivate consumers to switch. Price is the issue and they refuse to accept that because of their pride. They could easily take 30-40% of the market with a good price.

  20. IntrinsicGiraffe

Is this GPU in use or GPU sold? A lot of nvidia got scalped out.

  21. Giant_Midget83

Way to drop the ball AMD. I was actually actively looking for a 9070 xt to purchase but they all increased shortly after release to 30-40% over the MSRP. I found a 5070 ti for MSRP($750) and had to pull the trigger cause it was so much cheaper. AMD GPU’s just dont have the feature set to play these “fake” MSRP games.

  22. n19htmare

I would and have been wanting to buy a 9070 xt. I would do it in about the time it takes me to check out this very minute.

But here’s the thing, they announced it at $599. It was offered at $599 on day 1, under rather extremely misleading circumstances, and it was reviewed at $599 price point …….and that is what I want to pay for it.

There isn’t single model or MSRP variant that has been readily available post launch day. I want one, I will buy one instantly if able to but I’m one of those consumers that isn’t gonna pay a $1 more for it now.

    I’ll buy a 5070ti if it gets to 749 first then pay $601 for a 9070 xt.

Yes, my case/example is on extreme end but when the prices are what they are now, it really does steer people towards “how much???? I might as well get Nvidia card at this point” territory.

Take a page from Nintendo’s launch today. They said it’s $449/$499….and it was. More importantly however is that there is supply, LOT of supply. Basically everyone who really wanted one, has one and paid the stated price. I guarantee the demand for Switch 2 dwarfs whatever demand there was/is for something like a 9070xt for example.

So much so that scalpers are running around with their tail between their legs and can’t even sell at break even prices. Retailers are happy, Nintendo is happy and Nintendo gamers are happy.

It can be done, it has been done. If it’s not being done, it’s because the companies didn’t want to. Period.

Even if AMD gave GPU’s for free I doubt it would change a thing. This market is cooked
