in a layered box putting it on top is dumb. could have easily put it in the base layer but they went for the presentation instead.

Explains why I read reports of people complaining about GameStop stapling receipts to the box and it damages the switch 2 screen.
AaronDrunkGames
Wait, people’s are screen side up? Mine was screen side down
Fun-Customer39
Stapling a receipt to the package is dumb, but so is having this package design, but nintendo fans will only blame gamestop lol
Remy0507
Not that this makes it a good idea, but the Switch 1 was packaged pretty much the same way, and it never seemed to create any widespread issues.
Dependent-Mode-3119
I mean it’s questionable but I’ve never heard of a single issue with a damaged screen in transit like that. Now if you start stapling…
Hexatona
Yeah you’d think they would put it more in the middle to have some more cushion?
Nail_Biterr
Holy shit. I saw the article about how some people were having their receipts stapled to the box, and ruining the screen, but I couldn’t visualize it. i guess my 46 years of being alive and buying electronics, i’ve never seen the screen of an item go right against the box – what’s the point of the Styrofoam?

It feels like Nintendo is reaching their dumbass timeframe where they make a bunch of stupid decisions.
Callinon
I’ve gotten USB flash drives in more protective packaging than this.
Penguin-Mage
So that’s why the gamestop staples pierced the screen
FlameStaag
I mean it’s not the best idea but it’s also extremely “meh?”
Who cares exactly?
The only reason anyone noticed is because gamestop is run by morons. Even properly packed it’s absolutely brain dead to staple a receipt to a customer’s product box.
Outside of that i’d bet it hasn’t caused any issues

The one whose job you just justified by buying that.
Canadian_Invader
A simple piece of that soft foam that would cost pennies per box would have fixed this issue.
Mighty1E
Mine came in a box within a box.
SilverFlight01
Probably someone that has THAT much faith in people not being rough with these things.
But we’ve seen the videos, carefulness is basically a myth when it comes to delivery
ZizoulHein
I received 80 of them at my job, a dozen had the seal that had cracked, one almost fell to the ground.. geniuses

Every single mobile phone or tablet has been packed like that for more than a decade. It’s not that deep.

GameStop found out the hard way.
Damn, I can see so many caved in deliveries with sad MFs.
It looks cool when you open the box, ngl, but we’ve also already heard reports of a GameStop employee stapling receipts to the screen…
Did you get a free staple with yours? Others did
Especially a super soft plastic screen
Noooo way??? They did package it like that did they? It doesn’t get much dumber than that imho!!!
It’s the exact same way that the original and the OLED was packaged.
