It looks phenomenal but I’m a little skeptical it’s truly representative of what the final product will be like on a base PS5

  2. Jimbo_Jigs

After getting cyberpunk at launch I will instead wait for a couple days after launch to see if it’s worth it.

  3. Chromaedre

Quite a lot of shadow & asset popping. Cool demo though, even if YouTube’s encoding totally butchered it.

  4. justmadeforthat

It’s pretty, but honestly, any high-budget triple-A games look nice nowadays

  5. proto_ant

As long as they don’t overpromise and under deliver like CP2077 launch this will be a massive hit out the gate

  6. Walt_Jrs_Breakfast

I’ll wait for a version of this that isn’t compressed to all hell in YouTube 1080p. Turns the nanite foliage into a green smear.

That is how you create immersive NPCs. The way the guy carrying fruits stumbles when pushed. The kid reacting to the scene and stealing fallen fruits. The merchant conversations. All this helps the world feel alive.

CD Projekt Red has a chance to redeem themselves if they use this tech correctly in Witcher 4.

I am so glad people are not falling for the old tactics anymore.

Show impressive demo – promise features upon features – realize you cannot actually deliver – delay the game while downscaling the project – pretend like everything is ok – release the product unfinished / downgraded

Witcher 3 was downgraded in graphical sense and cyberpunk… well we all know what that looked like on release. Even when they “fixed” cyberpunk, it still had performance issues in the DLC and it introduced new bugs as well.

  9. RandomSplainer

Very interesting at around the 13 minute mark about doubling RT and Lumen performance with the same hardware(thus how they got 60fps on console).

So here we are again, years later, still watching tightly scripted walkthroughs of games that are still years away from release. This industry learns NOTHING.

And for CDProject to be marching out the same far too early marketing BS they pedalled with CP2077’s previews is just mental to me. Remember how they’d apparently utterly reinvented crowd tech? Most lifelike pedestrians ever or something? Right, yeah.

Like, we’ve been here before guys, dozens of E3 previews over the last two decades have taught us all this means nothing until the game is out, and we see what was cut and what was smoke and mirror shit all along. It’s bonkers games are still hyped up like this so far ahead of release.

  11. CDPR claimed a lot of things before 2077 came out, heck same with witcher 3 and how the release was downgraded from the demos/trailers, don’t believe anything until we see the released product.

  12. OperationFrequent643

Can’t wait to get back into that world. This was nothing major but was nice to see Ciri and the world again.

  13. Strong_Buyer_114

show me real gameplay not some FAKE TECH DEMO

I’m really, really skeptical of the “60fps, with raytracing, on a base PS5.” That seems like a callback to GTAVI’s second trailer.

Raytracing could mean anything at this point. It could mean only raytraced shadows on the main character, to be honest. And it could support 60fps on a heavily upscaled 1080p image (i.e. 270p -> 1080p) to maintain 60fps. Also, it’s Unreal we’re talking about.

CDPR tossed all their goodwill after Cyberpunk’s release. Remember that game was marketed and developed for the Xbox One and PS4. There were no word on PS5 on the day they released the “48 minute gameplay reveal.” It’ll be awesome if they pull it off, but I remain skeptical.

  15. Standart PS5 with 60fps and RT. I must have some frame gen and other stuff but i knew it was a matter of time to have this gen with some insane graphics with 60fps. About time.

  16. “We built this system to simulate the muscles on the horse and deform the skin appropriately”

Why? Who stares at these tiny details?

  17. HotMachine9

Looks great. Don’t trust CDPR after the shitshow that was cyberpunk

  18. wake me up when they reupload this officially in reasonable quality

  19. lordraz0r

Nobody is gonna talk about the stripped down tech demo already stuttering?

  20. Looks great but I will remain skeptical, especially given their past with cp2077

  21. Practical_Law6804

Impressive demo, but I’ll not get interested until we actually see gameplay.

. . .also what was the point of the controller?

  22. Honestly, it’ll probably come out after the next Xbox/PS has dropped, so hopefully, it’ll stay exclusive to those consoles.

Cyberpunk technically could run on the One/PS4, but it really hurt the game overall when they leaned into that and not just made it a Series/PS5 game alone.

Just because W4 can run currently on a PS5 Base, it doesn’t mean it should.

  23. Mabon_Bran

Not a real game representation. Devs confirmed it

  24. Sensitivevirmin

No pre ordering but I will request Vacation days after a month just to set aside time for this. Looks amazing and glad to have a fresh story and new campaign to go with.

Look forward to how they write this. They always hit it out of the park with the writing and set design of the areas. Look forward to getting lost again and going on side quest on top of side quest

  25. Mr_Jackabin

Just a reminder to not buy in to the hype and keep a level head.

    Thanks.

Honestly it looks like there is tons of trickery used. If you watch the 4k version at 4:37 it looks to me like there is a treeline until which everything is 3d, but the more distant background with the castle moves and looks like 2d elements. It warps and moves like it just wouldn’t if these are 3d elements. When the camera exits the cave you can even see how the shadows get drawn it, but these parts of the background already have the shadows in place which also don’t make sense if they are rendered in 3d

After Witchers 3s initial videos with the awesome water and smoke effects we never saw in the final game, I am sceptical. In this image quality is absolutely will not run at 60fps on base PS5 like they claim

  27. Revo_Int92

Seeing Ciri with cat eyes makes me so uncomfortable and pissed off, now I understand the feeling when fans of X or Y series reacts in an exaggerated way. I’m a huge fan of the Witcher, especially the novels, rather rave complete new characters (like an avatar system) than seeing Ciri being butchered like this (quite literally, we’re talking about self mutilation)

Anyway, as for the tech demo itself, I think one of the few elements that current devs can focus on to show some kind of evolution, that is the animations and interactions with the world. Textures, lighting, etc.. the industry almost reached a threshold, but the animations remain as clunky as ever. Also, the AI, npcs acting like the PS2 days, this crap is even more antiquated

  28. Tom-Pendragon

First few seconds, and I already knew this is bullshit lmao.

  29. Okidokicoki

No trailers. No hype. No preorders. No matter the company. No trailers. No hype. No preorders. No matter the company.

  30. tankersss

Before it even drops I can predict, just basing on their 2 previous games: Main game will be bland and boring with maybe couple side/main quests that will be really good and memorable, Expansions will be 10/10

  31. This isn’t gameplay. Gotta be fake or have experimental settings that won’t make it to the final thing.

  32. redditusername_17

Loved the tech demo, hate this post. It’s not game play. It never claimed to be, don’t be that person who lies to everyone for a few upvotes.

  33. THE_AWESOM-O_4000

It looks nice, but I just want a fun game that runs smoothly. I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but sometimes I get lost in these UE games as there is too much random forest areas and most of the towns look the same. There’s also so many characters / merchants in some towns that it takes forever to talk to everyone.

  34. vinnybankroll

At least the “ugly ciri” comments seem to have finally shut up

  35. It looks great, but I am getting cyberpunk vibes. The trailers also looked great…

  36. Readiness11

Not sure I am the fan of watching anything at 60fps in 2025 would rather have a downgrade in graphics and 120-200fps instead. For me the low fps hurt my eyes and made be feel sick.

  37. Platonist_Astronaut

Yup, that sure is an Unreal Engine demo.
