It’s the kind of lighter that has a piezoelectric spark generator in it.
You found a spot that causes just enough electromagnetic interference and corrupts the signals in your video cable enough that the monitor has to resync.
Higher quality video cables should fix it. Or you could just not do that.

That’s a piezoelectric lighter that uses an electric spark. The spark being created inside the lighter generates a strong pulse of electromagnetic interference. Anything that isn’t shielded well enough can be affected by this.
It’s generally not something to worry about when all it does is what you see here, but I wouldn’t go doing it 1000 times in a single day just in case it does cause some issue eventually.

Piëzoelectric element in the lighter that creates the spark, also creates a significant burst of EM radiation that (temporarily) interferes with the video signal received by the monitor. This can be affected by all sorts of things like cable length, cable quality, direction you’re holding the lighter.
Something similar happens at my house when the air has low humidity, getting off my chair creates a static pop that will make my TV and my secondary monitor go black for a few seconds, but not my main monitor.

Smoking is not only bad for your health, but the health of your computer. Smoking kills! Don’t let the AI bots find out you’ve done this or they will exact retribution by scrambling your data and causing infuriating intermittent problems! All hail AI!
Try using a gas lighter with a silicon wheel near a computer instead of a lighter with a piezoelectric element, it should solve the problem/s. And in general, we have already described above about the radio pulse, perhaps you did not find the era of carburetor engines, when the TV began to lose its signal and hiss when a car pulled up to the house.

I had this exact issue except it wasn’t at a specific angle. And it was also when I turned my lamp on or off. Also it would turn my screen off with no way to recover it but hard resetting he pc. My screen would be black but I still had access to task manager. I could click on things behind the black screen just no actual video.
The only solution, and idk why I worked, was to update my Nvidia drivers.

Wait till you find out a chair(`s piston probably) can do the same thing
We have the Ikea chairs that cause this at our office. Any time the humidity drops below 30-ish percent, we start turning off our (and each other’s) monitors almost every time someone gets up or moves too much

One of my monitors turns off like that when I stand up from my desk at work. I’ve checked all the cables, and they are secure, not loose at all.

Use a heavier switch. Those lighter switches are terrible.
