Fewer & more expensive NVIDIA GPUs in the market for consumers. AMD GPU prices will also increase due to artificially induced scarcity by NVIDIA.

oh what a surprise…. i predicted that at the start of the year already. they don’t care about the gaming market and focus on AI cards because they give the most money. only the trash that can’t get used for AI cards will become a gaming card.

  2. Monsta_Owl

Ya da ya da ya da. Once a better chip architecture that is made specifically for AI is available. We’ll see what happens then. Nvidia getting weened off AI money can’t wait to see that. We’ll see what happens then.

  3. ASEdouard

This is all pretty concerning for the future of pc gaming

  4. szczszqweqwe

Yup, super refresh will not be launched soon.

  5. Psy_Kikk

    What’s the phrase I’m searching for?… ah yes…

    Go fuck yourself Nvidia

  6. Lenininy

They’re going to come crawling back to gaming once the AI bubble pops. Thats what was gonna happen after crypto mining bubble popped, except they got lucky with another bubble inflating after.

Deepseek and other llm breakthroughs and competitors from China will make all this AI capital spend completely superfluous. Keep in mind AI doesn’t generate revenue anywhere near close enough that warrants all this capital spend. This is just a pure speculation play on compute exactly how crypto mining was.

So noone says anything when they say they repurprose a bunch of AI focused production lines for consumer gpus to fix the supply shortages (they in fact did?, in EU it’s also quite easy to find gpus at bellow msrp).

But now when they revert their decision as they achieved their results, people that aren’t even potential buyers are treating them as the antichrist, don’t get me wrong, it’s not about defending any company, but the double standarts and the constant crying is honestly getting a bit old. (along with redditors in general not understanding how things work and that the publically traded company isn’t their friend)

  8. CaptainRAVE2

Can’t be good for PC gaming. They already seem to be putting less investment into it if the 5 series is anything to go by.

  9. Ironic, just as the stock is starting to get to the point some 5090s are in stock for a few hours instead of selling out in minutes.

  10. HANAEMILK

They’ll probably eventually stop producing GPUs and focus only on AI. PC gaming is fucked

  11. Skullfurious

The future of PC gaming is fine. If cards NEVER improved it would finally mean developers have to start considering optimizing all these generic looter shooter extraction roguelikes.

There is so much room for optimizing at this point that if anything we need to move away from buying the next big card so we can all run EAs next generic slop unoptimized dumpster fire of a live service game.

  12. Scalpers dancing for joy. It’s artificial scarcity as far as the eye can see!

  13. saxoras

I don’t think I’ve seen the FE cards in stock for more than 2 seconds since launch.

  14. SASColfer

This might be less about screwing gamers and more to do with relatively low demand the cards. In the UK I can find literally every level of card available in stock today. I don’t think people want or can afford them. They’ve already done the damage with the launch.

Okay so what is this like year 5 (since covid) of production cuts for consumer GPUs. And what even does that mean. Don’t the quality (numbe, I.e xx60,xx70 …) just depend on the overall strength and quality of the die/ chip on the board when tested? Aren’t they all cut from the same cloth (maybe not 50-90 but I’m almost certain they group them)

  16. abstractism

Fuck Nvidia. Let their brand be ruined by their own (completely avoidable) actions.

  17. Patrix87

So 0 GPU available minus 25% equals… 0 GPU available.

    Sounds about right.

  18. Sitheral

Good. Their gimmicks will be less and less important for devs with time and we might have less fake stuff around. The only real downside is that AMD will have less competition but Intel is there.

  19. travelavatar

What? That much? I thought they focus on rtx series only 10% or less with their production. Dissapointing production output overall then

  20. PrometheusIsFree

C’mon Intel, got yer finger out!

  21. beast_nvidia

Did anyone read the article? It’s about the production in China. They have the biggest demand for AI GPUs right now. Rest of the word will be the same. In Europe, prices for 5070 and 5070ti are currently going down.

  22. I think it’s easier to get cocaine than it is to buy an NVIDIA GPU.

  23. DarthWeezy

Why does nobody ever read the articles they spam with? If even you TC, are incapable of reading, those who read your nonsense OP definitely won’t.

    1. This is obviously a rumour, nothing credible was revealed yet
    2. This, if true, is entirely limited to the Chinese market as only the Chinese SKU production could be dialled back

  24. flooble_worbler

What I’m hearing is buy a 9070xt sooner rather than later

  25. firedrakes

    so here the thing gamers.

your gpus cost more to make, wont be willing to pay for more vram, compute power.

atm the consumer rendering has to use fake frames, upscaling, fake hdr etc.

the consumer hardware market for gamers is a low market margin to make money on.

the manf know this, game dev know this. gamers dont know this.

  26. VolvicApfel

This Ai thing, could be Nvidias downfall in the long term.
