CDPR aims to stay “focused” on RPGs like The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 – even if tempted by other genres: “We cannot do so many things we would love to do”

I’m guessing the plans for a multiplayer Cyberpunk mode are dead.

Translation: We choose to make games that make us the most money.
Totally fair, but I’m not sure it’s worth pointing out lol.
Edit: Well fuck me for reading the article I guess. I love CDPR, but that’s what this article is about. The thing that comes after what the headline quoted is, “We tried but it didn’t work out.” The entire article is about them sticking to the things they had the most success with rather than risking failure by giving lesser games in other genres.

Let’s hope that Cyberpunk 2 is indeed RPG

Yeah you Sunsetted Gwent after doing the bare minimum in marketing, we know

Feels like CDPR is on the news so constantly lately, when their next game are not coming out in at least 3 years.
I find this insane. “Cyberpunk hype before release” levels of insane.

They should focus on not lying to the fans about the state of the next game and not having to pull a no man’s sky again. That would be the best first step.

That’s smart on their end fr

Some people get obsessed with every gaming needing to innovate and it’s nice to see developers try, but there’s also something to be said for having your formula and doing it *really well*.
Just don’t release your next game half finished like CP2077 was. That was not doing it really well.

Hope they can use games like BG3 to convince the suits that actual deep RPGs do sell in today’s market. Still kinda bummed how the RPG mechanics in Cyberpunk were barely deeper than Far Cry.

“We need financial stability instead of passion projects”
Unfortunate for them but maybe they shouldn’t put out broken games on release.

CDPR is the best RPG-Creating studio at this moment. As much as I would love to see different IP’s and different projects from them, they have a gold mine with The Witcher and Cyberpunk. Nobody blames ’em for that.

How about do it and see if it works first. AAA games are costly, so make smaller games, make spin offs, or whatever that you really want to do. Real fans will follow if they see interest

Are witcher games considered RPGs?
Dyyrin
Hell they were barely able to do 1 thing with their last title.
WolfWomb
Oh wow, they’re so talented they just have to limit themselves. Sorry guys.

Wouldn’t mind a cyberpunk action FPS with titanfallesque movement. Or Witcher card game like slay the spire.
