With rumors regarding them returning for bo7 I really feel like this is such a lame move. We've barely even started the dark aether storyline and the characters have had no chance to develop. People keep comparing it to the aether storyline saying that the dark aether one doesn't compare even though we are in the waw/bo1 phase of the story where it's the beginning setting up the pieces for it to expand. And now with this rumor I feel as if they are just deciding to throw this all away for more nostalgia bait multiverse bullshit again. I feel like this is going in the direction of chaos again where it's a cool story being set up but the community complains that it isn't the og crew because the zombies community is the most nostalgia brained community ever. Treyarch can't win because if they try anything new or different the community complains so with this I feel like treyarch has just given up and is just gonna try to appeal to those who are stuck in the past. Idk what are your thoughts on this?

I agree, i think richtofen should stay but thats about it

Same. If they do, it shows that they really don’t know what to do anymore since they’re desperate enough to jump into the nostalgia well. BO4s ending was a good send off and I really don’t want to undo it, even if they are just another iteration of the characters we knew. I’d hope we will actually explore the Dark Aether in the next game, since we still barely touched it in any meaningful way. Also, since the old multiverse was sent into the DA, you can use it as a way to explore different fantastical settings like they did in BO3, but all of it is just in the DA.

I kinda want them to come back as operators, I miss Takeo lol

It made sense for ol Ricky to come back but the other 3, or 24 technically, shouldn’t be in the equation.

i fucking hate new call of duty everything about it the gameplay the mechanics the microtransactions how fast pased the movement is god i hate the fucking movement the way loadouts are in zombies this has nothing to do with the zombies story i just wanted to vent how much i hate modern call of duty the franchize has been ass since bo3

If they actually set up a compelling enough story to warrant their inclusion / resurrection then i’d *maybe* be fine with it. BUT, the Dark Aether story just hasn’t earned that yet.

Regardless of people’s thoughts on the ending of BO4 with Tag der Toten, a lot of fans ended up enjoying the ending after time to process it (myself included). Them bringing back Primis/Ultimis for some low stakes poorly written bad-guy plot would shit on the 10 year long story they were in from World at War – BO4.

With the new writing style of Treyarch since Cold War (i.e. being a lot more “tell don’t show”), I don’t think they could even capture the essence of their characters in-game like they were able to with the original Aether games.

At the end of the day though, if Activision thinks it will make them money, then fans be damned, they’re coming back regardless of if it’s disrespectful to the original story. COD games aren’t made with passion anymore, they’re made by optimizing performance metrics in every single possible facet of the game to enhance profitability through Warzone and bundle purchases.

I would love for Zombies to move on and do their own thing.

Both because imo the more they add to the old the worse it gets (something I feel began in BO3), and because as it stands CW and BO6 story and character wise feel like they don’t feel confident in their own stuff and try to latch onto the old content cause people like the old stuff, I mean the story for BO6 is literally devolving back into bo1 & and bo2s “Maxis vs Richtofen ooh who’s actually the good guy”, like really? We’re doing this again for a third time?
Hell they felt so unconfident in their plot they roped Chaos in cause some people liked Chaos and yet have done jack shit with it outside of the Sentinel artifact, like cmon, DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR CONTENT.

I don’t trust the new writers to do them justice. Disclaimer, by “new writers”, I mean the writers from Vanguard to Black Ops 6. Cold War was written by the same guy who wrote both BO3 and BO4, and I adore its writing. I’d go as far as to say CW is the golden standard when it comes to character development.

The OG crew were funnier than any crew we’ve had since (Five crew is second best). When you’re on your 20th zombie kiting loop, funny, quotable, and memorable is huge.

Maybe they can return, just not together in the story by any means. Also I would sorely love a bo1-bo2 revival that’s not tied to a 10 year old game server. I know im probably better off trying to get it on PC but still.

Hmm…using the conveniently place thermomete™️ I found, this take as a temperature of roughy -3 Celcius. Final analysis: take is cold. Ice cold.

I’d rather victis return and see if they can finally make a super interesting story with those characters

If cod wasn’t shit these days people wouldn’t want the old crew back. But it’s never going to be the same so people should just move on
