This is BEFORE my provinces 13% sales tax, so new Switch 2 titles are going to be 120 to 130CAD…. i would understand a 10 dollar jump but this is crazy. For context, most switch titles are around 80 CAD before tax.

  1. Wait till you see Australian prices. Currency conversion is fun.

  2. Speak with your wallet! Wait on the Switch 2 and wait on these games.

The Wii U had huge launch sale numbers, but longer term consumer purchasing is what will decide whether the Switch 2 is a success. Don’t be fooled by all of the number hype into just giving in.

Ya prices in Canada have already been fucked. Just bought doom dark ages new and it came to $102 after taxes. I’ve been on the old games trick for years anyway. Most games I buy I wait until I find used or on sale for 40 dollars or less. There’s a lifetimes worth of old games to play, I only really want to get a game on release once a year or so.

This is utterly ridiculous, I really hope the ridiculous tariffs aren’t used as an excuse by other gaming companies to hike prices (looking at you, microsoft).

  5. TipsyBunny3

Welp I figured the price increase in games was bound to happen, I’ll have to start being a lot more selective about which ones to get

  6. BradleyAllan23

$99 is going to be the new standard price for games in Canada. Both Nintendo and Microsoft are increasing their prices to $80 USD, which is $110 CAD.

  7. lordmarboo13

Canadian prices are bullshit* fixed it fit you lol

  8. finntroller

Yes im done, switch served me well, and now my money will go elsewhere. Maby gamepass

  9. Mark-a-weight

Man, companies are really doing the “If you’re homeless, just buy a home” justification for games being 100 dollars.

  10. I stopped at the PS4. Now I’m going to hack my PS3 PS4 AND Xbox 360 , then get all the games I didnt play at the time 🙂

  11. Prospero818

More like switch 2 a different hobby with these prices

  12. Yep. I never buy games new anymore. When they come to $100+ a pop, it’s just too much to gamble with if I’ll like it or not. Patient gaming is where it’s at for me now.

  13. gordonbombae2

Yea lol this is why I’ve been preaching since the announcement we should not be buying and supporting this.

Won’t matter though, I think it just means I find a different hobby while all of you continue to pay these insane prices.

  14. Sabetha1183

This is a big part of why I don’t buy many games at full price, and will buy almost none if $80 USD becomes the new standard. Especially when my wishlist is full of games that regularly go on sale for anywhere from $15 to $50 CAD.

At the very least I only have to pay the federal sales tax here, no provincial one.

  15. Shruberytheshrublock

I’m literally priced out from Nintendo.

  16. Mimcom998

It’s crazy. When I bought Expedition 33 on ps5 it cost me around $60-$70 for a brand new game. Switch 2 prices are insane. Unfortunately Nintendo get away with it because of the fans just accepting the price and accepting Bullshit

  17. This is the first Nintendo system I won’t buy until a price drops I just can’t justify it.

  18. SupperTime

Basically forced to get the bundle to save $40. It’s crazy

CAD prices will always be roughly in sync with USD relative to exchange rates, our economies are too close together for them not to be. The issue isn’t the pricing in Canada but the base price of the game, currency aside.

  20. Chaz_wazzers

Family friendly console with family unfriendly pricing

  21. Oleleplop

i sincerey hope gaming AAA crashes at some point.

  22. TiredReader87

I looked at Donkey Kong on Amazon, and it’s $99.99 before tax. No thanks. I’ll just borrow it from the library.

  23. Just imagine, 10 games at mrsp would cost over a grand… That just seems too insane.

  24. sonicadam132

In the uk they are £75 which is $138.73CAD and 100.95USD. The main console is also cheaper in America than here too, quite a bit so too

  25. Xenephobe375

The Canadian economy is bad so that is going to reflect on prices of games as well.

  26. Cloud_N0ne

Preorder for a lazy port of a mediocre game from 8 years ago and still $100 CAD. Insane.

  27. critxcanuck88

And clowns will keep on buying them at these prices.

  28. I was regretting getting the first switch because I never was okay paying $80. Im sure as hell completely skipping the 2nd one

  29. Greedy_Zone8439

All the more reason to just wait for an emulator and pirate. Nintendo has always been anti consumer it is bizarre considering the ips they have.

  30. Canada been getting fucked since 2014, we went from $60 to $80, 2020 went up again to $90, now 2025 going to $100, and $110 before taxes.

  31. dearbokeh

What’s more crazy is the low wages Canadians receive.

    High prices and low wages.
