Really? EA of all companies is the one to finally get that using AI is a bad idea even from a business standpoint?
Cmdrdredd
It’s a little late for that EA, but at least you are aware of how many people feel about using AI in place of people for creating new content.

>Many major game companies are using artificial intelligence for game development and other initiatives, and now EA and Take-Two have issued warnings to investors about reputational risks.
>Bloomberg noticed that the latest 10K filings from both companies included disclaimers about AI risks. EA’s filing, for example, mentions that the company is integrating AI “tools and technologies” into its development and business processes, noting that doing so “might present social and ethical issues.”
>If EA fails to manage these issues appropriately, it could lead to “legal and reputational harm,” and for consumers to “lose confidence in our business and brands.”
>Take-Two’s 10K filing, meanwhile, states that, “The development and use of artificial intelligence into our products may present operational and reputational risks.”

EA has fans?
GarrusExMachina
“fans” don’t have confidence in EA… EA makes games for the masses who just want comfort food they already know how to play from the last time the game came out.
knotatumah
The number of companies starting to say this leads me to believe they’re secretly doing it and hoping nobody sniffs it out.

EA has fans?
IgnorantGenius
Didn’t we already lose confidence in them a decade a go?

Way ahead of ya
Sabetha1183
People had confidence in EA?
TBTabby
Not that they had any in the first place…but things must have gotten dire if even EA is calling it out. Other companies should take heed of this, unless they really want to be viewed as worse than EA.
Galion-X
Jokes on you. We lost confidence in EA LONG ago!
KingDisastrous
We’ve lost confidence to this shit company waaay before AI clusterfuck

Corundrom
What confidence?
SeiferLeonheart
Honestly that title made me giggle out loud. But I bet they still rake in cash from their sports games anyways, and the average sports game fan doesn’t seem to me like a person that would care about AI usage…
NightmareWanderer
Now to only convince them of that when it comes to microtransactions…
SuicideMW
Too late.
Don’t need to blame AI on that one, EA.
internetlad
Yeah that’s gonna be the tipping point lol
Earthbound_X
Didn’t the courts(In the US at least)already say AI content can’t be copyrighted? Seems that would scare EA off before caring about customers.
Former_Intern9136
Spoiler alert EA, fans have already lost faith in your content… Fucking raptor

bro, we lost confidence in ea like by obama’s first term. everyone recalls that dread the first time they had to install origin

Wasn’t EA voted the worst company in America, twice?
What confidence are they trying to protect?
SamuraiKenji
Could?
Ok_Wrongdoer8719
EA should continue to make games the old fashioned way so that its teams can have a sense of pride and accomplishment at the end of their dev cycle.
Psionatix
EA has already done this without embracing AI and can continue to do so.
Spire_Citron
It’ll probably reach a point where so many games do it that it’s not really a big risk because the alternative for consumers is just not playing games. Right now studios are just going to be shy about being the first, especially since the AI isn’t necessarily fantastic yet so it probably won’t produce a great result.
NIDORAX
Then DONT USE AI GENERATED CONTENT!
Simple.

There’s people who still have confidence for EA?

I’m excited about ai letting them make npcs that can actually have a conversation with me. I don’t get the hate. People really love conversation trees that much?
spaceraingame
They don’t need AI for that to happen. It already has.

Threads like this where pretty much everyone is dunking on EA should be a reminder for everyone here that Reddit isn’t a consensus and doesn’t reflect the wider audience

I haven’t the confidence they wouldn’t use AI on the sly.

Has nobody at EA seen or heard people say AI slop?! Yeah, it turns out AI is not about it being a good tool, it’s simply about taking human jobs.
Jimothy_Tomathan
What’s left to lose? Just rebrand as EAI already.

Don’t know what’s harder to believe here, EA having fans, or that those alleged fans have confidence in EA.
