He also mentions that the studio was still hiring and some who got laid off had only been there for weeks.

The plan, according to the people familiar with the game's development, was to feature various playable heroes from the comic-book universe, such as T'Challa, Killmonger and Shuri, all competing for the mantle of Black Panther, which would grant superhuman strength. The player would take control of one of these heroes, while the others would become rivals with whom the player could cultivate relationships.

  1. Cancelled because the nemesis system is too great to ever see the light of day again

  2. Yeah I wouldn’t doubt that EA wanted to avoid a lawsuit from WB over that. Especially after seeing what Nintendo is doing over Palworld.

Well they didn’t have to cancel it they could have just fired a certain couple of people and maybe that would have saved but all I can say is good riddance

4 years of pre-production!? No wonder they cut their losses.

  5. CruffTheMagicDragon

4 years of pre-production is sadly par for the course for AAA nowadays

Sure it’s not the fact after 4 years they never had anything to show for this “evolution” or really anything ?  There was literally  nothing about this game anywhere and it’s rare a game doesn’t have any major rumors floating around whatsoever or even leaked information gameplay details, especially after It was announced but there was literally nothing

It’s hard to trust Jason schreier whem he makes theses posts

Like why bother talking about how this game after FOUR years  was STILL in preproduction and the most notable thing is the fact that “it was trying to evolve the nemesis system”? It doesn’t paint the devs in a good light

  7. They were going to use the Nemesis system in the cancelled Wonder Woman game too, weren’t they?

I’m not really surprised by anything this industry does anymore, but it does still somewhat amaze me that WB Games went to all the trouble of patenting this specific game mechanic so that nobody else could ever use it, only to also shut down every game they themselves were going to make with it, and now that other publishers are able to iterate on it, EA cancels theirs too.

It’s just so funny to me that this whole Nemesis system saga inadvertently became virtually identical to a case of patent trolling, and the mechanic seemingly remains cursed no matter who tries to use it.

Some of the most pointless articles. if it’s never seeing the light of day, it’s not fucking news to report on the details of the game. It only brings more frustration for gamers.

Good riddance. Racists should not be coddled or entertained.

While it sucks not getting a BP game, I wouldn’t expect anything from EA or that studio to do him justice with the care and attention he deserves. Hopefully a good AA studio with real fans who appreciate the source material will maybe get a shot.

4 years of pre production….. Tell me you’re management is shit without directly saying it lol

  11. Holy shit, 4 years in PRE?? What? Yeah, good riddance.

  12. GloatingSwine

The real reason it was cancelled was because nobody had an idea what the actual game was going to be except “vaguely some sort of open world maybe?”

  13. NikiPavlovsky

    <Still in pre-prod. after 4 years

…..I mean…..I on EA side on this one…..I’m sorry

  14. reshef-destruction

Ugh fuck WB, I hope the Warner Siblings tear the studios new assholes.

That…actually sounds like it would be kind of fun. Hopefully, something comes from this later down the road.
