In my book Expedition 33 is officially the “what the fuck is your excuse” for the rest of the entire industry. A game like this for $50 feels like a straight up miracle.
manuaIreset
Not every game is as good as this so not every 50$ game is worth those money, easy
LaserGadgets
NO AAA studio will ever get anything close to even 40 bucks from me! Steam has sales going every week (it feels like) and I am patient enough even if it takes a year for the price to drop below 50%! There are tons of games out there, I don’t feel the need for one certain game anymore.
A game like 33 deserves it though. For AA and indie I go full price on release day, if the game is nothing but awesome, and this one seems to be nothing but awesome!
AAA and ubisoft as the only AAAA guys have disappointed way too often. Nope.
TheBig9ish
It’s wild too because it’s on game pass… So I have 50 hours in this wildly amazing game for free. Over the last few years I’ve gotten an estimated average of probably $1500-2000 in value from game pass games.
marx-was-right-
Expedition33 was the game of the decade to me, maybe even my life. Anyone in the comments here who hasnt played it yet, please give it a chance..the game is soooo fucking good
gogul1980
Gta 6 isn’t going to charge me anymore than I want to pay. Happy to play the waiting game.
FleshgodApocalypse21
I’m not much into turn based games, but this one is so good.atter of fact, my favorite games are all games that were $60. Balatro, Vampire Survivors and way before that, The Binding of Isaac.
goatjugsoup
Happy to have bought this at it’s launch price. Voting with my wallet the best way I know how.
If gta 6 DOES launch at 100 US and the price is translated over to NZD then as far as I’m concerned it can fuck off for as long as it takes to be priced reasonably. They’ll be making bank off the whales in the online version as they do now anyway so it’s not necessary at all.
Recover20
So far two of my favourite games this year have been £$40-50
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The First Berserker: Khazan
I even bought Assassin’s Creed Shadows on release for £52
I struggle to think that without any deluxe editions or collectors editions that £$100 will break into any market for a base game title. Even if it is a Grand Theft Auto game
the_doorstopper
I really hope gta 6 just like undercut the entire market and reverts it back to like 60, or 50 and leave the others realising their 70, 80 games dead in the water, because like what can they do, other than lower.
If you see a titan like gta 6 being cheaper than your game, more popular, better, an industry defining game you kinda got react a little
Aggravating-Dot132
Lower price usually wins most of the time. That’s why stuff like sales or black Friday exist.
However, inflation is a thing. And games were 60$ 20 years ago. So it’s a tricky situation. Price hasn’t been changed only because the Market was growing, once it stops prices will go up.
ClovieKay
What’s actually going to happen is GTA 6 will come out at 100 dollars and people will buy it because it’s GTA 6, then other companies will raid their games to 100 dollars but no one will buy them at that price and they will be forced to go down or go on sale.
GTA will have the only pass. Other games will not
WarHoundD
Im so happy this is GOTY contender. i will be pushing the GOTY agenda as far as i can for this game. It truly is an incredible experience and specially at this price. it reminds me a lot to Hollow Knight when came out. Indie, lower price, new teams and become a referent in the genre by merit.
if it wasnt enough, ebery time i read something from the developers i like it even mre haha
Danlod1
Between First Beserker, Expedition 33 and now Tainted Grail, there is hope that we can still get some good indie bangers
lancer081292
I mean, I’m way ahead of them, I’m not spending any more than 70% after tax on a game because I can’t. Games have to go down in price or on sale for me to buy them
summons72
That’s not what they are saying. Games should have a range of prices based on their budget. It’s okay for games to be $80 AAA titles but over the last two generations we lost the AA space where games used to come out at lower prices and many of them were great. Now we have either AAA or indie that middle space has been missing. While budgets are skyrocketing and AAA, it’s going to be really important that devs know they can make amazing games on smaller budgets because gamers are going to need that middle ground. Expedition showed games with smaller budgets don’t need to be $80 to be successful.
Lostboy1986
I have to with my finances.
MiddleSecurity8734
A company can charge whatever they would like. Consumers have more power than they realize. They just don’t use it because of FOMO.

Remnant 2
$50 and awesome
SeyiDALegend
Paying £10 less than standard for both Clair Obscur and Karzan The First Berserker in the space of months has radicalised me against full price games
random_reddit_user31
I’ll happily buy more $40/50 games if they are like Expedition 33.
Dundore77
People will buy good games. For every 1 expedition 33 we will get 20 half assed AA games that are nothing but worse version of games already out just like we did back during the ps2/xbox and 360/ps3 years.
Racheakt
Truth is, I don’t buy games at launch anymore. I add them to my steam wish-list and get them when they go on sale.
Teantis
I support a lot of games below $20 because there’s actually a ton of creativity gameplay wise in that space and I end up playing those more than anything else I buy. The graphics are just really basic – though many have a decent aesthetic to them even if they’re simple graphics. The good ones their makers are also often *really* active and really accessible. Starsector and the Pathos remake of Nethack are absolutely dominating my life right now.
p1shach
Some are happy with million(s). Some are unhappy with billion(s). As a consumer we should prefer quality over trend / show-off. Sadly that will almost never happen.
Seems like Clair Obscure: Expedition is an happy exception.
cemtexx
I’ll happily support games of £40-£50 or even £60 if this remains the standard.
Expedition 33 has really been a wake up call for the industry that a game can look and play amazingly well and not cost £80+.
DeadlyCareBear
If they are anywhere near as good as Exp 33, i gonna throw my money into their pockets, no worries about that!
StarkAndRobotic
I buy almost all my games on sale for about $6-10. And i still gave too many to play.
alaincastro
I would gladly spend more money for these devs if they made a dlc, game was so good it left me wanting more of it, something that hasn’t happened in a while. And if this game won’t have dlc then i look forward to buying whatever game they’re working on next because they’ve generated a ton of goodwill from this game.
JuanPunchX
I would have supported if my PC could run it. 16 fps according to a benchmark list with my 5700xt.
Squabbey
Well realistically the USD should be higher. Most mainatream games of the top of my head have a blanket number across USD, GBP, Euro etc. Let’s not even get started on South America…
thadowski
The high price tag is for richies and their kids, and streamers who wanna show everything in the first week. The price drop is for normal gamers
SkullVonBones
Challenge excepted!!!
gardenvarietydork
I mean if they’re as good as Expedition 33 then yeah. No problem guys.
kizzgizz
It’s pure bloated workforce and fund mismanagement.
We’ve been hearing nothing but layoff after layoff from these “AAA” publishers, because they hired a workforce way past what was needed, so feel like we, the consumer, should pay for their fuck ups.
They keep citing how games are more difficult to make nowadays, but I would propose that it doesn’t help when there are hundreds of people making something with no cohesive vision. Or shareholder involvement. Or decisions being made by higher ups who don’t even know what makes a good game, but what brings in revenue.
I get they’re not in it for charity, and want to be compensated for their efforts. But all it takes is simple, make a good game, with a good story, that doesn’t money gouge the customer at every turn, and the revenue will come.
This is the exact reason why indies and AA games are smashing it in recent years.
SlickWickk
There’s less than a handful of $40-$50 games that are anywhere close to this game in terms of being worth the money. Don’t fucking gaslight us.
mikel305
You guys want gaming to keep pushing boundaries and for devs to have great working conditions but at same time want AAA games from these companies to be $30 lol.
Mynameisbebopp
At the same time, EVERYONE will pay 100$ for GTA 6
The problem is charging 80$ for the likes of Diablo, Cyberpunk on release, Redfall, AC, etc..
And some of these games are not even complete and come with micro-transactions aswell.
GTA is GTA, and games like Baldurs Gate 3 will be worth the massive tag that is 100$.
The problem is people letting studios get away with murder.
CurlyDarkrai
Publishers are dumb asf, people will only pay 100 for gta6 they won’t for other generic open worlds or whatever
Quirky-Marsupial-420
I mean GTA6 can probably get away with charging 100 bucks.
But idk why other publishers would want that.
There’s going to be a serious decline in sales if certain genres/publishers start charging that.
I really don’t think the 13th Assassins creed game will sell well at 100 dollars, a reskinned Madden/FIFA, a 150gb Call of Duty, etc etc..
sonfoa
Lol you guys aren’t Rockstar. They would be able to get away with it because they wait nearly a decade between releases and then give an all-time classic. Try to mark up your new releases to 100 dollars and see what happens.
