there's a reason I'm not subscribed to game pass and an unprompted ad will not change my mind. I thought I had all notifications turned off, this was the first one I got in literal years.
if I didn't need windows for work, I'd be fully on linux by now.

Ads and not being able to control key settings. Every OS after windows 7 feels like a phone you have to jailbreak.
There is a fix, it’s called “bazzite” just simply install and it works.
Just turn the setting off for recommendations

I hate that almost anything you click now has a delay as windows polls the internet. I just need a decent Linux autohdr solution and I’m gone.

either turn it off in the settings, or if you think it’ll be re-enabled then get a debloater, or use a different OS. you have multiple options yet complaining on reddit will not make anyone else fix it for you
You can download a debloat tool and completely wipe all bloat from the system. I did it on my ROG Strix G18 and it greatly increased responsiveness and stability. It will wipe out those ads, too. It’s truly an amazing tool.

Yeah its bullshit they turned this shit on by default because they know most people wont work out how to turn the adverts off or even can be bothered to click the cog and work it out
I had this pop up on my device a single time, and didn’t even think about it again until now. If you have time to complain about an easily fixable problem, you need to reevaluate how you use that time.

Same. It’s preventing me from getting a gaming PC. I essentially want an extensible Xbox that I can plug pc parts into. All of that to say I want an OS strictly dedicated to gaming only that allows me to make it as powerful as I want.

I’d love to switch to Linux but all my work software only runs on Windows and with how job critical it is I can’t deal with any issues with WINE or something while on site. Maybe I’ll attempt it when steamos fully comes out.
Very funny Microsoft, but my lightweight fold laptop for uni with a 12th gen I7 with integrated graphics is not running that.

Same. I only boot into it for VR (because VR absolutely REFUSES to work for me on Linux. And I’ve tried multiple applications) and a few other games that aren’t compatible with Linux.
But every time I boot into Windows, it reminds me why I don’t boot into Windows. Is it unusable? Of course not. Is it pleasant? Hell no.
