  1. I remember playing this way back before Monster Hunter World came out on Steam.

I thought Dauntless had already shut down years ago.

  2. UnsorryCanadian

Wow, I remember getting a free dlc pack or a boost or something off of epic less than a year ago and still haven’t launched the game. Sad to see it go already

  3. thegamerhpxp

    It committed seppuku.

I don’t know who acquired the studio but they sure HATED the game.

Nice to see it being put down of it’s misery.

  4. EtheusRook

Had a lot of fun with this when it first came out. Didn’t stick with it, but from the sounds of things, I was better off leaving while it was good.

  5. ‘Tis a shame. I quite enjoyed the early years with this game. Too bad they sold out and some pricks destroyed it from the inside.

  6. What a shame. Back in the day I much preferred it to MH.

  7. ImNotNuke

Can people who spent money on this game get it back lol.

  8. msgandrew

Oh shit! That sucks. I fell off as life got busy, but I really enjoyed this game.
I watched a really good talk from one of the designers about their strategy of listening to the community and what content they focused on, but then sadly acquisitions happen.

  9. spez_might_fuck_dogs

Bad game ruined by F2P money grubbing dies ignoble death.

  10. I was there playing with my husband before rezakiry and Shrowd were a thing, we mastered everything and then just had fun with what the game had to offer and throw at us….the day they nuked Ramsgate we knew it was pretty much over for the game.

At least we still have the pangar statue and the artbook to remember the good days, wish I could post the picture of the pangar tho, but it seems I can’t

  11. KriptiKFate_Cosplay

This is what happens when your game is nothing but grind without any meaningful endgame progression. It’s too bad because there was always a lot of potential there.

  12. GhostDieM

Who would have thought locking away the weapons behind a pay2win grind in a Monster Hunter clone would lead to players leaving /s

  13. Riparian72

The downfall of this game is so sad. The whole reveal of the block chain company owning the devs and the changes to the game felt insulting and I don’t play the game.

  14. Cloud_N0ne

Never have I seen a company shoot itself in the foot so blatantly and horrifically.

Actually no, that’s an understatement. They straight up disemboweled themselves.

  15. AlarminglyExcited

Good. I played it ages ago, when it was good, but it still didn’t scratch the Monster Hunter itch I had. It was alright.

Saw what happened to it recently, left me thoroughly disappointed.

I’m glad it’s being put down.

  16. OrichalcosValkyrie

I knew as soon as they moved the dev team to Fae Farm that the writing was on the wall for this game.

  17. LawUntoMyBooty

As soon as the decision to put monster materials (used for crafting) into loot boxes was made, the game died.

  18. Hyper_Lamp

I haven’t played that game in a while but its actually heartbreaking to see it go. I quite enjoyed it

  19. Argony1990

imagine building your dream game just to sell it to someone soulless to bury it.. wth

  20. I remember when it released and I was so hyped that I bought the two player key pack for 100$. Lmao.

  21. MyStationIsAbandoned

That’s what happens when you start out being an Expect Exclusive and then sell yourself to an NFT company.

  22. HiCracked

Man, I played this game about 3 years ago, back when it still had potential and fun, engaging progression. I can’t believe how massively they screwed up, and to think I was looking forward to coming back. Such a shame.

  23. From the moment they sold out to epic they have been their own worst enemies. They had something that could have worked. Too bad they were so incompetent.

  24. Loved the game at first, then they started introducing content and it was all downhill.

  25. x-Justice

Greed has killed many a game, just add it to the list.

  26. So will all these online only fossils ever get the ability to have fan servers?

  27. HarbingerOfMeat

I was into MonsterHunter Worlds when some friends got into this. I couldn’t really get into it, I did like 4 or 5 hunts but I just liked
Monster Hunter better. I read about the NFT company locking things behind pay walls, and it sounds like they absolutely wanted this to die. Idk if they get a tax write-off or what but nosediving the game was not on my bingo board.

  28. I played this game a lot. It hurts to see it die like this. It could’ve lived for a long time but then the new company held it underwater until it stopped struggling. o7 to the devs who have lost their jobs from this corporate assassination.

  29. AcherusArchmage

It feels like it was all planned to just rip the servers out. It’d be much better to just go back before the horrible patch and let it run.

  30. oORedPineAppleOo

This game was a blast when it first came out. I’d rather cherish those memories. Sad to see it go.

  31. Honestly, good riddance, and it’s a stark reminder that these online only games that survive on your grinding/putting in money can go up belly up in an instant and all your stuff goes poof.

I played in the early days through their initial battle pass/hunt passes; talking about back in the beam staff days. I had to quit because the devs were just so antagonistic to the player base at the time.

God I remember when people kept using the beam staff as a solution to some parts being ludicrously impossible to get because some bosses had such bs hitboxes for those parts and the devs lost their shit constantly trying to patch the staff instead of addressing the bad hitboxes and they ended up breaking pistols for the longest time as a result. And one dev was insistent that the pistols were fine despite multiple people showing over and over through testing that they weren’t working as intended at all.

When the arena came out and it was full of cheaters and people were rightfully pissed that it had exclusive rewards/rewards tied to power but only people exploiting cheating could obtain it and the devs did nothing about it.

I’m sure there’s some good people there that lost their jobs, but holy fuck did that studio absolutely drive such an easily/straightforward concept of “Quick bites of Monster Hunter basics with randoms” into the trash can.

  32. Actually loved this at launch. My first Monster Hunter type game. RIP

  33. DragonMaster337

I never played much of it but it was fun the bit I did
