I usually play all the endings, but I’m never uploading NUSA’s virus to Song Bird.
Sorry Reed, you had your chance to redeem yourself, but choose to betray Song Bird again after regretting doing so the first time.
Von_Uber
Didn’t hesitate for one second to tell the NUSA to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.
I ain’t no slave catcher for the FIA, and I don’t want a cure with strings attached at the cost of knowingly condemning someone else who would literally would rather die instead.

Betraying Songbird has the far cooler outcome.

I learned my lesson after she betrayed me the first time. And all for nothing. Songbird can kick rocks.

In one you get to help a woman who while, manipulative, wants just to be free from a curse V is suffering from themselves.
Where you kill a dog who knew he wasn’t going home, and tell a woman who would literally put all of the world at risk for power to shove it right up her ass. And give Best girl a cushy assignment waiting for you to die your unnatural death so she gets that dream vacay.
And in the other. Best Girl Dies. You either return or kill a slave and return her body to an abusatory power with no regard for human life. And all you get from it is a desk job as a disposable cripple.
No thank you. I hope you’re happy among the stars Song bird

Yea it’s hell and tragic… but I’d say it’s worth it and helping put her to rest. She’s free from NUSA and Mr. Blue Eyes.

Sadly the best ending (saving Song) has the most underwhelming rewards.

the airport shootout after going with Song was so fun, glad i went for that the first time

Sooo many people think that sending her to the moon is “helping her”.

Betraying Songbird on my first run with PL was the coolest gaming experience I’ve ever had. The “Somewhat Damaged” mission was such a nice treat but I get why it bothers people as it’s not what people signed up for. But removing the power fantasy aspects of the game for a moment highlights the narrative strengths of PL. Genre-shifting in a single narrative is not easy but when done well, it is so refreshing.
For me, I knew the NUSA were bastards but the game kept emphasing how Songbird was a walking & talking nuke in regards to the Blackwall. As flawed as Reed was, Songbird’s powers were always a chilling mystery. Betraying Songbird but letting her die is my Canon ending for PL, but I also enjoy the aspects of the new Tower ending too. Both offer significant closure than the other PL endings. It may not be morally correct but you don’t get happy endings in Night City. RIP Alex.

I didn’t think it was so bad.
GrumpiestRobot
Reed’s path doesn’t have Contra la Luna fading into Songbird’s leitmotif for the Blackwall neural bridge scene.

I hate it when a game which usually has a way to fight my enemy puts me in a scenario where i can’t fight back…

True. But so fun!

The trick is to chase the Forklift bot instead of running from it.
After so many decades alone down there, poor thing just wants some belly rubs and to be told it’s a good bot.

Why would anyone side with the NUSA in a game/universe called cyber***PUNK***?!?!

The Killing Moon may have less tangible rewards than Somewhat Damaged, but it is a genuinely cooler experience imo

I think the moment that did it for me was on my second playthrough of Phantom Liberty. I was kind of rolling in my head which ending I was going to go for. When you first enter Dog Town and are standing near that railing and Song asks you ‘How bad is it really?’ Like knowing what I do from the first playthrough it really felt like she was genuinely struggling with making the decision of screwing you over.
The King of Pentacles ending is also interesting. Like Jackie, I would have never handed her over to the NUSA, even in death. Hell, my V would have thrown her the same deal as for Jackie because it was the only way she knew how to mourn. However what really hit home for me was Reeds. Like it hurts on a different level that probably the most emotionally healthy ending for Reed is the one where he looses literally everything.

Getting “healed” after betraying songbird is legit the most depressing ending. I’d much rather get digitized by ‘saka or die in a blaze of glory with Johnny.

There are so many black/white answers here, either ride or die So Mi or Reed, but I haven’t seen a single mention of one of the gray options.
My first, and still favorite after having played through all of them, ending is playing as a V which values their own life above all else. This is Night City, it’s you or me.
Siding with So Mi initially because she promises the better survival option between the two, but then the ball drops in the 11th hour that only one of you will live and she’s ensured it’s her, so you have nothing left to do but swallow your pride, admit you were wrong, and hand her over to Reed. Every single other lead has lead to a dead end, it’s either NUSA or you die.
*That* is what I did in my first playthrough and I would consider that one of the best, if also the most heart-wrenching, endings to a video game I’ve ever experienced.
It’s not an easy choice, you’re in almost the exact same shoes she’s in, it’s just a pure “you or me” choice. Is my choice selfish? Yes. Do I regret it? Not at all.
NC is cold and unforgiving.

Part of the reason I choose siding with reed for gameplay. It’s too easy with so mi.
With reed, I get to fight Hansen, fight the most experienced max tac operatives, ~~fight~~ run the fuck away from an AI horror and get to weaponize said AI horror for myself.
