Today we're launching "End Of 10" (endof10.org) and bringing Linux to Windows 10 users!
On 14 October 2025, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10. Microsoft will no longer provide updates for the system and this will turn an estimated 200 to 400 million laptops and computers worldwide into security risks and heavily polluting e-waste.
Yours may be one of them.
This is a post for users who rlly can't upgrade to windows 11 without needing to buy a whole new computer.
Seriously consider trying Linux before buying a new PC as it can bring new life into it and all of the developers have been busting there butts off getting Linux desktop in a better place today + gaming has come a long way especially thanks to valve
I know windows 10 LTSC is another option and that's if you truly don't want to move to Linux yet or at all, that is ok 🙂

Found out you can turn on a TMP chip in the bios! So fu k a new computer, you can turn yours on!!!!
LoL! We still have Windows 7 pc’s on our network….
Maybe a dumb question, but what is the worst that could happen if I just keep running 10?
The problem with this is that most of the users would find a way to bypass hardware restrictions and install Windows 11 anyway. With all of it’s telemetry, recall, and other huge amount of unnecessary background tasks that makes their computer performs worse and also make their computer a data farm for Microsoft. It’s like trying to convince someone to stop smoking.
Linux users will always tell you…
Site telling you to use Rufus to make a Linux USB. Rufus can be used to make a windows 11 USB as well which can be installed on any device without any of the “requirements”. Way easier.Â
I was surprised to see that Windows 11 is 57% on steam. More than half of the users are already on Windows 11.
You can install W11 on basically any computer unless it’s so old that there literally aren’t any drivers available for it, but in that case you are probably not running W10 either.
Just upgraded to 11 not that long ago after realizing fTPM on my machine which apparently counts towards the TPM 2.0 requirement was disabled, also getting Linux installed for a dual boot setup when Windows 11 also inevitably dies years from now

yup. that’s the only option for me since I can’t afford an upgrade. I’m using the pc for gaming and win 10 performs better anyways so.

*knock knock*
I’ll stay on 10, MS can suck me
YEAR OF THE LINUX DESKTOP FINALLY ^((or not since this has been said since 98 but trust me))
Didn’t Linus just recently make a video where he showed a workaround to download/upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on a pc where it normally wouldn’t work?
Holding out hope for SteamOS being released on PC
Microsoft ending support for older operating systems is a normal part of the tech lifecycle. Windows 10 was released in 2015; It has had a solid 10-year run. That’s actually longer than many other OS support cycles.
The shift to Windows 11 is more about security, performance, and modern hardware compatibility than it is about pushing sales.
Curious to see any references for the supposed ewaste problem that is being created from this and how that compares to the workstations and servers and office PCs that get tossed every year from enterprises for just having 2-year service contracts expire.
I still have a closed license of windows 10…
>Made a website to help users switch
>Website says “search for your own distro”
lmao
You can use Rufus to bypass the cpu and tpm check
I have Win 11 and it’s not to bad, but I hope STEAMOS releases for PC prior to this so then maybe i’ll switch to it.
Lol
Rufus->disable tpm check->waow i have windows 11 nao!!1!
Windows 11 isn’t even bad ?
A lot of us rely on software that doesn’t work or is an absolute nightmare to work on Linux. Or there is no good linux alternative.
If I (or my family) only browsed internet and watched movies then yeah linux is stellar.
Unfortunately everyone in my family has needs that make Windows the only real choice currently. And no, I’m not going to force my very old mother to tinker with virtual machines, dependencies, configurations, dual booting, etc.
Am I like the only one with no issues with win 11? I switched a while ago and cant find a single negative after changing a few small things like moving the start menu back to the left etc, otherwise no speed or any difference for me over win10 and i cant think of a single feature I “miss” or anything
I feel like this is just vista 2.0 where people say they hate it over and over then you do like a blind test where you have them use it and tell them its something else and they say its fine then you reveal they just used vista
I’m sorry, but switching from Windows to Linux is not an easy 3 step process, like the site claims.
bro. just dont.
windows has it usecase and linux has it usecase. i use both. i know the pro and cons of both and i know which i use for what. but a “windows is dead go to linux” is kinda stupid.
But trying to push linux as “a new windows 10” to windows users will just upset them because their stuff simply dont work. people use windows for a reason. starting with specialized industry software and ending with gaming. and linux users use linux for a reason as well. coding, network administration, prototyping or just for the idea of free software.
I’m one of those users who still has a windows partition there because of specific software. Clip Studio Paint is the only thing holding me back from just deleting the windows partition.
Krita is nice. But not my cup of tea for manga work yet, tho it can be set up for it I’m sure.
For most users I think any distro of your choice (Mint / EndeavourOS / Fedora / Honorable mentions) + KDE Plasma is a blessing coming from Windows. I tried all the other DE before trying KDE, I felt like an idiot.
I’ll pass. Linux is not for everyone, and not all software users use on Windows is available on Linux, or even has alternatives…
TempleOS users aren’t effected by this. 😀
I’m glad there are sensible people on here who realize that most people would have a hard time switching to Linux as their main OS. I’d like to dabble in Linux as well but I still need a Windows machine for everything else.
Now, to figure out how to slim down Windows 11 so it doesn’t take up so much resources at idle…
If and when steam releases a full image of steamOS for general use, windows is going to have a problem. It has the tools for gamers, and it’s just good for general use too.
Just for future reference, the phrase is used as breathe new life, not bring new life.
>This is a post for users who rlly can’t upgrade to windows 11 without needing to buy a whole new computer.
Is it because of the TPM 2.0 requirement? Because if so Rufus allows you to disable that requirement when creating a boot drive. On top of that you can further customize the Win 11 install by disabling the 4GB RAM minimum requirement, disabling M$ account requirement and disabling data collection.
People who know how to install their own OS would be using Rufus (or another 3rd party software) to create a boot drive anyway, since the media creation tool from Microsoft sucks ass.
whose buying a new laptop for a windows upgrade
This somehow made me less interesting in Linux. I don’t know how you could have managed that. I’m even tech savvy enough to actually give it a chance but…
Just use Rufus and bypass Windows 11 requirements and you can have it on anything lmao
Reads picture. “This better not be Linux”. Reads first post. Tosses over the table.
Only a bad Linux post could get people here to suddenly be fine with the thought of being forced onto Win11
