I tried the hardest difficulty level, ennemies just felt like huge hp sacks.

I played on hard up until I faced smasher. the difference on normal and hard mode with him is pretty big. stealth sniper build isn’t ideal for facing him.

If you primarily play Stealth / Takedowns then you can easily go through most of this game on Very Hard without real issue.
Once you get chromed up nice then Very Hard becomes a joke. I dropped the Chimera last night using a T5++ Unity with two Equalizer mods.
Personally, I stay on Normal while I grind out Act I for the Cyberware Capacity Shards / money to pay back Vik. Then I’ll chrome up as much as I can before Konpecki and bump it up to Hard.
By level 30-35 I’m usually chipped with all the Chrome I want (until I get to Dogtown for the Iconic variants) and can safely switch to Very Hard.

Play on very hard or just dont play , be a man

Hard is considered the default difficulty. That’s why there’s a marker under it. It was the “Normal” at one point, until a certain update I can’t remember the version number of.

Hard isn’t bad at all. Enjoy!

Hard isn’t that difficult once you make your character OP. Just need to watch being one-shotted that’s about it.
SarcasticKenobi
The real difficulty is the self control to stop yourself from becoming too powerful.
Instead of filling in every cyberware slot, only fill like 1 or maybe 2 per category.

I literally just did this quest on my second playthrough on hard difficulty. Good luck!

True hardest difficulty is choosing River as a romance option.

As other people have suggested the difficulty only really matters in the first 15-20 levels or so. The power scaling is fucked enough that Normal-Hard-Very Hard all feel about the same from level 40-60, with the exception of Cyberpsychos/boss fights. H/VH you just feels like you’re marginally more likely to die of a random snipe or grenade. Once you get to level 35/40 on hard don’t be afraid of bumping up the difficulty to see how it feels.
Probably depends on build to some extent. If I don’t intentionally try something different, I naturally gravitate towards an Int/Cool/Tech silenced pistol sniping build, and with that you feel godlike by level 35 or so even on VH.

Didn’t think it was fun personally. Enemies just turn into bullet sponges.

I think the game plays much better on high difficulty. Im currently doing very hard with no cyberware (and no chrome perks like dash or time dialation) and no HUD. Its honestly so fun, and it makes you really see what it’s like to be a regular person in night city when you have to fight some chromed out borg.

Played body/tech build, even on very hard things were way too easy
PeacefulChaos94
Very Hard is disappointingly easy if you’re not a net runner or stealth build
Son_Of_Zeus_SatZev
Good luck, you’ll have a blast.
nickless69
when evelyn is around it’s always hard
thewildslayer
Very Hard has a pattern of stealthing early and then hitting a power spike and being able to play as you want, like how Int and netrunning takes a long time to properly ramp up or getting a decent Sandevistan/Berserk build and then going full One shot Overture/Melee. Once you have the formula you can get by very easily. Any other difficulty is just to live by a power fantasy imo
Head-Star-8005
If you play and build well, very hard shouldn’t feel too hard.
At least that’s been the case with me.

Cyber psychos? More like cyber sissies on normal mode anyway
batigoali
If you don’t play with Enemies of night city mod you are pussy. Just gotta adjust the detection IMO. Totally different game.

I play every game at the highest difficulty, but with Cyberpunk, I honestly just mod the difficulty to high hell because i hate how CDPR went about them, they just deal more damage and take 47 fucking mags to die, it gets boring after the 348th time that you took 15 minutes to put down some random tigerclaw
