    >According to an email the company sent its employees, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has appointed his son to co-lead a ‘Transformation Committee’ to help the studio fine-tune its games and breathe new life into them.

    This won’t end well, lmao

  2. Least-Path-2890

Ubisoft collapse is more entertaining than anything they made in the last 10 years

  3. My guess is that one of things that isn’t going to be ‘transformed is the CEO, looking at who is overseeing it. They’re the living embodiment of the Principal Skinner meme.

Ubisoft’s idea of change is staying the same, was is the past, is now and will be in the future.

Design by committee NEVER works out. Combine it with nepotism and it’s even worse.

  5. Brandunaware

Was this the same son that made that Tom Clancy Elite Squad mobile game where the bad guys were BLM?

  6. tomonee7358

Really? A ‘committee’ one led by the CEO’s son no less to find out how to ‘breathe life into Assassin’s Creed’, good luck with that.

Ubisoft is gonna take the L of the Year Award for sure.

Set an AC game in Prague, and bring back the Animus meta weirdness as well as the smaller self contained but detailed European environments.

Get rid of the toxic dlc and level progression, AC is not Skyrim.

    There, I fixed it.

  9. RokkakuPolice

The story in AC games went to the shitter when they killed Desmond, who had a bigger destiny planned out in the span of 6 titular games iirc, nothing short of a reboot can make the modern animus story relevant.

  10. Admiral_Janovsky

They have too much money. Thats why they created another high role/supervisory position to bleed/launder money into it.

  11. Didn’t AC Shadows perform well critically and commercially?

  12. RabeDennis

Ubisoft should release older titels on GOG to give the games a new life

  13. A_Monkey_FFBE

Nice, wasting more money on something that will get them nowhere. Big corpo is actually braindead.

  14. MiddleEmployment1179

    But why?
Shadow is a such a success, surely they’ve returned to form with that one and should keep the winning formula.

  15. ASAPFergs

Is it obvious? They haven’t had a famous lead character since Ezio, that’s what they need to work on – everyone since is so generic

  16. Commercial-Pop-3535

    It’s just too late.

It isn’t even about Shadows and if it was good or bad or made a profit or loss. It’s just too late to make it a franchise outside fans want to play.

Shadows was what, Assassin’s Creed 9 in the main line of games? The stark contrast of playing the first game and Unity next to one another is wild, let alone the more recent games.

If it’s making any money, it isn’t broken and don’t fix it. It is a monumental task to attempt to make the tenth installment “the big one” to a franchise this long where the biggest sellers are on the front end.

  17. They dont need a whole committee, they just need to dump ideology.

  18. Regulus_Immortalis

Hopefully they crash, burn and sell the fighting mechanics of For Honor

So the problem itself (Yves and his family) has appointed his son to find what’s wrong with the company?

My man just look around in your own house. Yves created a new role in the company to give his son a job. Talk about old habits dying hard. His company is going down, but the greed has only ever gone up with ubisoft.

  20. NyriasNeo

Lol .. this is just stupid. Is creative content by committee ever good? And they have to throw in nepotism too.

So they are going to create the same bloated re-skin games but now 3 time as slow because they have to go through a committee every step of the way.

Mouse hires investigation company to find out who’s eating all the cheese in the house

  22. NoctisTenebrae

How can a company be so consistently stupid is honestly beyond me at this point. But again, it is Ubisoft. They’ve wasted hundreds of millions in games that no one asked for, or were dead on arrival multiple times.

Someone with proper creativity should just by the IPs and work on them. Ubisoft is the biggest detriment for Assassin’s Creed by this point.

  23. Taint_Butter

Bring back the AC: Brotherhood – Black Flag multiplayer!

  24. pieceofpower

Ahh yes, more meetings, red tape and bureaucracy always helps with the creative process of making a game.

  25. TheYellows

Have they considered that maybe Assassin’s Creed needs new death breathed into it

  26. Representative-Yam65

The fact that they have to create a “committee” to reevaluate a video game tells you everything that’s wrong with the situation.

  27. cap10quarterz

This is just fucking rich. “Let’s form a committee to fix the game!” Out of touch losers.

  28. ionevenobro

Going back to their roots isn’t even enough anymore since so many games have the mechanic. They don’t want to gamble with a new storyline that may or may not stick. They’re probably just going to remake ezio for guaranteed sales.
