Oh the memories of absolutely hating that game have continued through my life. Worst all time.

My grandma still has a copy. It was my aunts Atari. I could never figure that game out.

Wait, didn’t those game cost like a fortune for being rare and a legend? I heard Arin Hanson from Game grumps bragging because he got one in an auction for several hundreds of dollars. It’s WILD to see one in the wild for ten bucks.

$10 seems kinda high? Maybe the ‘rona drove the price up, idk. Either way, ET’s not rare, just old. Still great to see any A2600 in the wild tho (and it probably still works after 40yrs)

Just take a drive through the desert. They’re everywhere

I played this as a kid and frankly I didn’t think it was that bad. But I was, like, 7. You walked around, fell into holes, avoided scientists, floated out of holes, searched for flowers and record player parts. Something like that. Not much worse than anything else the 2600 had to offer.

Ten bucks? Seems like a rip-off. Salvation Army used to sell a bag of 3 cartridges for $1 back in the 90s/2000s. They always had lots of ETs. I’ve got 3 in my collection. Not because I wanted ET but because anytime I bought someone’s collection off craiglist or a yard sale, there was always an ET.

  8. I hope you called your parents to let them know. A phone home, if you will.

Why? It’s the 8th best selling game on the console.

Yes, it’s a rare collector’s item now, but charging even $10 for that garbage game still feels wrong.

What a *banger*. Oh the hours of replayability you’ll get with this one.

It’s crazy to think that this stuff is now 50 years old.

Dang, and I thought it was crazy when my friend showed me his Virtual Boy.

  14. I will absolutely give you $20 for it if you go back and get it lol

  15. ET was the eighth-best-selling 2600 game. There’s no way it should be commanding $10. In fact, none of those games in the photo should be worth more than $1.

  16. MrMeowPantz

$10? There is a desert where you can get one for free.

  17. Johnbuckets556

Got my copy proudly displayed out in my room

  18. My father had an Atari, I remember two et cartridges… both worked and both were shit even to an uneducated 6yo

How could they, in good conscience, sell E.T. for Atari for the same as Frogger? It’s only value is as a museum piece as the game so bad it killed the American videogame industry for years.

  20. TimHuntsman

So they will give you ten bucks to take it out of their store? Cool

  21. Danpool13

Everyone saying ET is worth less than 10, but weren’t almost all of the cartridges destroyed/buried in the desert? Wouldn’t that make this MORE valuable? Or is it because it’s out of box/used? Even then, I’d assume it would be worth a lot more than $10 to the right buyer.

  22. MazaFox94

Shouldn’t that be in a desert somewhere? Imagine being the person who bought that and realizing you got had after putting the cart in.
