it would be so funny if sony sells bungie to microsoft

  2. mr_showboat

Given that everything I hear about this game is bad news, makes sense.

  3. MammothAsk391

Who would have thought we’d be getting a Concord sequel so soon.

  4. FreshestFlyest

Far Worthier games have been cancelled for less

  5. G-DevilOrion2077

I mean this game has a history of being a story driven FPS that everyone thought maybe Halo and Marathon were connected but Bungie execs saw Shadowrun (2006) and thought “hey we could do that”

  6. CrawlerSiegfriend

At this point they need to either go F2P and just drop it. No one is paying for Marathon at this point, but despite the outrage, people will play a decent F2P extraction shooter.

  7. therikermanouver

Good lord. How hard is it to just do a modern remake of the original marathon game? Do a Doom 2016 for marathon. Why is that so hard.

  8. DarkDesertFox

Does anyone else hate the aesthetic of the game as much as I do? Even if the gameplay somehow ends up being really good, I’m never going to touch it because it’s just so ugly to me. The characters and environments just look really unappealing.

  9. Jerico_Hellden

Whatever happened to play testers and focus groups.

  10. I’ll never get whoever is the incompetent manager of this project. Marathon is halo before halo in terms of lore, there’s like a massive website with compiled information about stuff that happens in the 3 games. And with all that they decide to do a fuckin extraction shooter or something.

  11. Dreadgear

If this will result in a worse concord this will be the funniest shit ever

  12. waseem335

This the same Bungie that said Factions 2 was bad lol

  13. StompsDaWombat

They should probably just cut their losses and cancel the damn thing. Is *anyone* actually excited for this? I feel like whatever excitement the extraction shooter crowd had for the game withered during the playtest and then immediately vanished when they saw/got their hands on ARC Raiders. And if they’re actually still moving forward with charging any amount of money for Marathon, the game is all but guaranteed to be stillborn. (And switching it free-to-play 3 to 6 months after release would be pointless, because the diehard players – the people who were always going to buy it at launch and then stuck with it for whatever sick reason – will already dominate the game, the maps, and the meta, making the experience extremely unappealing to the more casual crowd who decide to check it out once it’s free. End result being they’re left with the same small handful of players who, no matter how many cosmetics they buy, won’t be enough to sustain the game.)

I still say that if Sony wants an extraction shooter to compete with ARC Raiders then they should be tapping Bend Studio to make one set in the Days Gone universe. If they actually found a way to support thousands of freakers plus 16-32 human players on respectably sized maps without it crippling the server or requiring god-tier hardware, I think they’d have something.

Dang I was really hoping they would just release it and it would die. What a waste pulling resources from destiny for years to make a game that literally no one wants. You couldn’t intentionally mismanage something this hard.

  15. Sony just can’t figure out live service games it seems.

  16. PSFREAK33

This game was a nonstarter for me since its announcement I’ll just keep playing destiny

  17. TheMagicStik

Talk about a more catastrophic fall from grace. Going from the timeless first 5 Halo games to selling it off and the franchise gets absolutely tanked, going into Destiny and the abomination that Destiny 2 became and then cancelation on this game absolutely nobody wanted.

  18. StrifeCloud97

Le oof this aint a good look bungo. Feels like D1 all over again but worse.

  19. MikeBinfinity

The people who made Bungie what they were in the early 2000’s left a long time ago. For years going back as far as Destiny 1 development, this studio has been plagued by terrible management and lack of respect to the fans that they did not deserve.

They siphoned millions from its player base over the years, and what they gave in return was overpriced $20 weapon skins, meaningless DLC expansions, and vaulted content that YOU paid for that will never see the light of day.

I hate to see people lose their jobs, but I hope Bungie gets shut down.

  20. The_Great_Ravioli

    Oh that baaaaad.

Sony probably still feels the burn from Concord, and now are dealing with this mess. They are 100% bringing out the whip.

  21. tieyourtimbsandnikes

As a former long time Destiny player:

    Lol

  22. So this is why destiny 2 has been so lacking in good content the past few years, great job bungo

  23. This ain’t about to be just some tweaking. Be prepared to play a different game late next year. That’s if management is competent… so probably just some minor tweaks and a release a week before gta 🤷🏽‍♂️

  24. UberrimaFides_

Contrary to its name.. they really did try to speed run who could have their game fail faster.

How much longer before we get news that Sony now has taken full control of bungie or they sell them to someone else (I realize at this point bungie isn’t worth a bag of pizza combos) but someone surely would buy them regardless, right?

  25. They should just cancel it tbh. It’s an absolute mess

  26. JackSpadesSI

Destiny 1 and 2 have had moments of absolute greatness. I’ll never understand why they threw that away to chase Marathon. I’ve never seen a game be less wanted by… everyone.

  27. TyeKiller77

Holy shit, I knew Bungie was gonna cock up Marathon so badly it might tank the company but I wasn’t expecting Sony to give up on it as well, at least as far as trying to hype up the game.

  28. Playingwithmywenis

I hear that studio was a better buy than Activision.

  29. lordsaladito

i love destiny with all my heart, but yeah bungie deserves it.
Hope it resurges like ff14 and no man sky did tho

  30. RespectGiovanni

So after all the winning from the console war, they burn their money on failed liveservice games

  31. susankeane

Sony’s live service push is such a hilariously boneheaded greed-fueled self-own haha they could be dominating so much harder if all these studios had been working on quality single player experiences

  32. IncredibleSexyApex

If this is true, free marketing for Arc Raiders.

  33. Is the delay to review all the assets to make sure they aren’t going to be paying for copyright violations on release? (That was a Marathon gameplay video that got called out for stealing else’s art, wasn’t it? )

  34. ChafterMies

I dunno‘ man. I don’t see delay in cancelled marketing plans. I see a game that is expected to launch DOA.
