I’m looking for some help optimizing my RAM settings further. Here's my current setup:
PC Specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi (BIOS version 3003 – latest)
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 2x32GB 6000MT/s CL30-40-40-96 (Model: F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR, AMD EXPO certified)
Current RAM Settings:
I'm currently running the RAM with the ASUS Tweaked EXPO profile running at 1:1 ratio MCLK & FCLK at:
- Frequency: 6200MT/s (3100MHz)
- Timings: 30-40-40-96
- tRC: 151 (SPD shows 136, but board sets 151)
This setup has been rock solid and stable in everything, including games and stress tests.
Issue at 6400MT/s:
I tried running 6400MT/s with the same timings, but it was unstable.
- HellDivers 2 would crash or stutter mid-game
- Benchmarks and stress tests like OOCT, MemTest64 and AIDA64 caused reboots or crashes or Blue Screens
So I dialed it back down to 6200MT/s for stability.
Problem:
Even though it's stable at 6200MT/s, I’m getting latencies above 75ns, which seems high.
I’ve seen users with lower-tier boards and RAM kits getting latencies under 60ns.
My Ask:
- How can I optimize the timings further to improve latency?
- Is it worth pushing for tighter timings say CL28 at 6200MT/s? If so can anyone help me with timings that might work?
- Can I reach 6400MT/s stable with better tuning or secondary timings? Provide any working config?
- Any advice or tested configs for this kit on similar platforms?
Any help or suggestions from those with experience tuning this specific RAM or similar setups would be greatly appreciated!
My goal is to either run at 6200MT/s with tighter timings or at similar timings but at 6400MT/s in a stable config.

Set 2066 fclk for 6200 ram.
40/40 can be switched to 36/36 most likely, 35/35 might work to. tREFI can go to 65535. You’re cooling should be fine
