Man, Elden Ring’s overwhelming popularity is gonna ruin From Software ain’t it

I make one joke about the skibidi toilet movie being made by A24 and now here we are.
The simulation is breaking down and I want out.

I’m extremely excited for this. Idc about the quality of a movie or anything, as long as it’s fun and enjoyable I’m in.

Staring Jack Black as Elden Lord!
FlamingGnats

AbundlaSticks
Finally we’ll get some story about Elden ring
MarkG1
Sack this off, do a full season for Armored Core.
GingerPinoy
Whos gonna play…damn I can’t remember any characters or what this game was about
wejunkin
0% chance this actually gets made
NefariousAnglerfish
You know what, if there’s two companies I’d most trust to not screw up a video game movie, it would be FromSoftware and A24.
do-not-contribute
I can see it now, “marika’s tits” is uttered once in the film and the whole theatre busts out into a deafening roar of laughter
Nanganoid3000
I have no faith in this.
Why on GODS green earth would anybody want to try to adapt an abstract series like a soulsborne game, into a film, when half the user base doesn’t even know what the hell is going on half the time!
That’s the fun of these games, it’s not set in stone, so much speculation, so many ” what if’s”
And they want to make some “canon” type body of work from this?
Yh, I doubt this’ll respect the source material enough to be something of value.
salamiolivesonions
I’m worried. how do you wrap up that entire game until like 2 2 and 1/2 hours. which bosses do you focus on. how do you even begin to describe what a time which is. is there going to be folklore? let me solo her Easter egg? I’m worried.

The director (Alex Garland) is currently on New Game+6, apparently.
I know Reddit has already decided this has no chance of being good, but it’s got a good director behind it who is a genuine fan of the game.

but hole

High production value with poor storyline
reddfawks
My first thought is if they made Miriel, Pastor of Vows a well-done animatronic instead of just CGI, they could really ride the hype train by bringing him to conventions and letting people take pictures with him.
He’s a good holy dog.
jax024
There’s no way this is good
zachs1
Fuck yes the potential here is seriously off the charts.
buc_nasty_69
I tend to enjoy A24 movies when I watch them, I just hope it exists to complement the lore instead of shitting all over it with the script writers take on it
sundler
They’d need a whole TV series to cover the story.
jettivonaviska
Literally anything besides writing another book, right George R R Martin?
FesteringAynus
This has been known for almost a month now. Why tf is it all of a sudden everywhere?
Proof_Ratio_5004
Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. I like most of what A24 does, so I have faith they will do this right.
Okvist
They can’t possibly do Elden Ring justice unless it’s a Lord of the Rings level production
kog
I’m trying to think of who would be funniest playing Varre and calling someone maidenless
Square_Saltine
At least they got the right studio to make it
Disizreallife
The only way I see this working is as a silent film with incredible visual story telling.
jrdnmdhl
Personally, I would have picked a game with more actual plot and developed characters. But visually and in terms of general vibe I can see the appeal.
Lord-Timurelang
I’m not entirely happy about this I’ve always liked the “make your own story from the bits you find” aspect in Fromsoft games, and while Elden ring has a more coherent story than the dark souls games, giving it a clear ‘cannon’ just feels wrong.
Blubbpaule
Movies have a predictable plot line.
Introduces the main character in their normal world.
Shows their flaw or whats missing in their life.
Something shakes up the protagonists life. Could be a death, a challenge, a discovery, or a betrayal.
Emotional bonds are developed.
Betrayals, misunderstandings, or loss.
The protagonist overcomes fear, flaw, or doubt.
Somewhere inbetween the fakeout of someones death that didn’t really die.
And voila we got a movie, and not forget to spell everything out so even the brain dead can understand it.
This all sucks for the world of elden ring.
FerrusDaManus
It’s A24 so there’s a good chance Fred Durst will pop up at some point
Scott389
Anthony Carrigan as Patches would be perfect. He was in Barry as NoHo Hank
HiddenSquid04
It’s okay guys, Miyazaki isn’t holding a gun to your head to watch it
