Unfortunately, people will indeed fall for it again.
I was a hardware journalist back in the day and shenanigans like this have always been a thing. Not just graphics cards, we’d always have PRs and other folks leaning on us from one direction or another trying to get tests to favour their products. This is marketing doing it’s job, PR doing their job, and the key is you’ve got to be wise to it.
You’ve got to have good people out there doing the benchmarks, not believing the hype, and doing right for the consumer. And it is comforting to see that we do still have those things.
What I am mostly worried is how AMD is copying Nvidia. Nvidia leeds and AMD copies/follows. As a consumer, I am F’d yet people keep buying Nvidia GPU cause of their marketing. Not claiming AMD is a saint either but at least it’s slightly cheaper, usually.
The whole industry is tainted and we can thank Nvidia / Jensen for that.

For the average “hi, I need a gaming PC for my teenage son” mom/dad consumer, this means nothing. On the other hand, my next gpu (most likely for a NAS/home server) will likely be Arc. Time to vote with my wallet

Nvidia has already won. Same power for a higher price. 90% of every pre-build and gaminglaptop out there will have this card. Top 5 on the Steamchart in 1 year.

Well it’s just mostly a function of what system integrators do. If they build a lot with the 5060 then it’ll be popular. Not really up to the consumer at this point. Not many are very informed about a lot of things. Just busy working and entertaining themselves. As intended
