Why do the mechs at the Arasaka Waterfront have names?

Always thought that was the name of the pilot.

My guess is bug or oversight. Maybe they use the same base as the piloted construction mech and get flagged as a piloted mecha as a result.

Arasaka focus groups have found a 22% increase in efficiency when they were encouraged to interact with the mechs as though they were simply fellow co-workers

The fact you think they shouldn’t have names is classic anti-mech racism.

It’s the kind of jank that came out with cyberpunk 1.0. Just never got patched

In death, members of Arasaka Spec Ops have a name. His name is William Jiminez.

Homie, my CAR has a name, and it only kills people on accident.

Maybe they just give names to them… like “William Jiminez has been destroyed! Requesting backup!”

There’s a small quirk in the system where on a second scan passive robotic npcs will be given a random name because they’re coded as nonaggressive unless provoked, just like pedestrians.

  10. Remote control pilots name. At least that’s how I HC it.

I really wouldnt be surprised if it was like the 40k servitorship

Probably a bug/poorly implemented default behavior. In the big Tyger Claw vs Trauma Team fight on one of the roads one of the TT guys was named “The Cheesevendor”. Took me very off guard when I scanned them.
