Here’s a thought EA, why not take that idea and apply it to all future games? Rather than destroying every franchise you come into contact with?

I’ve dated a girl whose father worked on the game as a coder. I didn’t believe her but he is actually in the credits.

I will never be gaslighted into thinking the new battlefronts are better than the old ones.

Man, playing the game while watching the movies for the 1st time was mind-blowing. I had so much fun, I wish I could relive that

I played the hell out of Battlefront 2 with my brother. We ended up having all the medals at Legendary so we could start the battle with all of the bonuses haha.
I always said a battlefront 2 remaster in today’s graphics would have been a whole hell of a lot more fun than the new trash they put out.

Helldivers 2 feels like a game that owes much to the original Battlefront games. I was getting so many flashbacks to the Battlefront games when I was playing it. I would love a more self contained story or galactic conquest mode for Helldivers.

People stop talking about EA’s battlefront. Pandemics battlefronts were the GOAT’s. It’s everything a kid could wish for, pure freedom of vehicular choice and so many modes.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is one of the only games I own multiple copies of, just for LAN parties. It’s genuinely one of the best games ever made IMO.

Battlefront 2, the original, was my very first game I pirated. and loved it so much I bought it. Good games sell!

Some times I wonder if guys like this are like that story of Michael Keaton on the Spiderman set silently whispering “I’m batman” in there new jobs . They totally deserve too but still it would be funny.

Will real fans shell out $80 for a sequel, no matter what?

I love the original Battlefront II so much that I run a website for it (swbfii.com). I admit that the 2004 game does do some things better, but for being rushed out in a 9 month dev cycle SWBFII is incredible. The infantry gameplay is so much better. It’s also a much better and more fleshed out online experience than the 2004 game.
I still run servers for the game on the PS2. It’s wild to think that we could run actual PC Dedicated Servers for a console game back then. We are keeping the tradition going with the PS4/5 version of the Classic Collection too.

The reboot never lived up to the OG Battlefront II version

This game is timeless for me. Playing split s even with my family was just so much fun.

2nd easily my fav…that galactic conquest was the best…I remember one night starting it with my mates at like 10pm, on hard, the 3 of us…we’d do well for ages and then they would just keep gaining planets back and this went on till 6am and we still were nowhere near finished. Just wish the other two had remained friends, we could have continued…but one passed away 2yrs ago and the other got new friends…I could try with my nephews but they need to get better at shooters

I believe it when I see it. The gunplay of the “new” Star Wars Battlefront was lightyears away from the original two titles. It was a reskinned Battlefield slop. The original titles were special because of slow bullet travel times, which allowed active dodging. They had some of the most engaging back-and-forth gunplay in shooter history. As a kid I played it with my friends more than any other game and I have fond memories of it. Thanks to bots, we played long after most servers were empty.
Now, it’s true to say that the original SWBF 2 already moved far away from SWBF 1 with unit cost and Jedi. Still, both were great games.
I am pretty darn sure, that the new SWBF2 will be another reskinned Battlefield slop with gunplay that is not even remotely close to the original…. but let’s see. Remember: Don’t hype. Don’t pre-order.

Might be unpopular here, but what I miss most about the classic battlefront series is the arena aspect of it and simplified mechanics. I don’t want classes running around with a million different variations of weapons and abilities and skins. I want those aspects reduced to simple predictable classes so that the real dynamism come from the larger strategy, which command posts to go after, which chokepoints to hold, which planets I can and can’t hold. There was a more profound sense of control but also freedom at the same time that I miss.

I just want a Star Wars game similar to Battlefield, itself.

I remember the first time I played Battlefront II—I was hooked instantly. The thrill of piloting an X-Wing or charging into battle as a Jedi was unmatched. It’s incredible to hear that the developers poured their passion into creating such an iconic game. It’s no wonder it holds a special place in so many hearts. Kudos to the team for crafting a timeless classic! 👏

I loved the space battles and galactic conquest in highschool. We would smoke weed as teenagers and play for hours.

Nice and a bit surprising to learn that the dev cycle of this game was without crunch
