Their dev stream was so painful to watch. Dudes really went out thinking they’d be able to put the fire out. The lead designer dude read a prepared statement. They blamed the stolen art on a previous employee, of course. They’re not sorry they stole the art. They’re sorry they got caught.

Bungie are thieves, they routinely “Vault” Destiny 2 content that you have bought and paid for, meaning you lose access and can never replay any of it. Them stealing art doesn’t surprise me one bit.

And yeah, I think the artist that got stolen from should be compensated, and the work removed from the game. That’s not under discussion. But it fucking irritates me how there’s an entire “ragebaitosphere” whose entire business model is to tear people down and burn everything to the ground. The fall of Bungie is actually insane. I spent countless hours of my childhood and teenage years playing Halo:CE through Halo: Reach and still play them from time to time. I never touched another Bungie game after Halo so I haven’t kept up with what they’re doing for almost 15 years now.

They should take a page out of Nintendo’s book (not the whole book, just this one page), where when they realized nobody internally liked what they had for Metroid Prime 4, they scrapped it, salvaged what they could and basically started over.
Scrap the whole thing and start over as a reimagining of Marathon 1.
