CS2 vs. CS:GO recoil video comparison. Why spraying might feel wrong in CS2.

###[A second recoil video showing off the AK-47.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKcg6N0wCrk)

The ‘jerking’ effect in the AK-47 video is more subtle than the MAG-7 and also not present in CS:GO. In CS:GO the recoil always goes down when not shooting – in CS2 it goes up shortly after a shot has already been fired; potentially resulting in the ‘off’ feeling we’ve all been experiencing.

The CS:GO part in the video was 64 tick, but upon testing 128 tick the recoil behavior was not too different. It updated twice as fast in slow motion and was also predictably smooth and one directional. The difference for CS2 does not seem to be in tick rate but in some other implementation of recoil.

I made these videos as a supplement to /u/Powerful_Seesaw_8927’s analysis on why spraying in Counter-Strike 2 feels broken.

    [Second thread.](https://old.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1kqe518/why_the_spray_feels_off_in_cs2_part_2_the_real/)

My videos refer to [this graph in particular](https://preview.redd.it/khyjpqq4jzye1.png?width=1881&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5a731a09d976b0893d6f2f4cfc73a4f8a59f39e) from the original thread, which shows that recoil in CS:GO subsides smoothly while in CS2 it jumps up and down shortly after a shot has been fired.

I chose the MAG-7 to show off this effect as that weapon has the most view punch recoil per shot as according [to the BlackRetina’s/SlothSquadron’s weapon spreadsheet.](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11tDzUNBq9zIX6_9Rel__fdAUezAQzSnh5AVYzCP060c/edit?gid=0#gid=0) The effect is easiest to see in the video using the MAG-7.

AK-47 is an automatic weapon with the highest combined view punch recoil and fire rate ([link to the video for the AK](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKcg6N0wCrk)), but the visual effect is much more subtle. Nevertheless it is visible in slow motion, **and most certainly is not present in CS:GO.**

Finally, please note that everything presented here is explorative and not authoritative. The videos only intend to show an unexplained discrepancy between CS2 and CS:GO that may or may not contribute to recoil feeling worse in CS2.
I am open to any and all explanations as to why things may still work correctly in CS2 despite the strange behavior under slow motion.

Recoil camera shake in cs2 damn near knocks your teeth out. Nice video demonstration.

  3. Do the tests show that the bullets go to the same places?

This post deserves more upvotes. A visual demonstration of why spraying feels Worse that the Math Guy (PowerFul SeeSaw) proved with data. Thanks for the effort, OP.
