Yes. Johnny’s memories aren’t entirely accurate likely due to getting Soulkilled while dying. You see this during his memory of his death.
In the memory smasher knocks him down and then advances on him. Then it cuts to Johnny fighting his way through the staircase and getting to the heli before being shot down.
In reality Smasher immediately cut him in half with an autoshotty and the game even references this
The whole “johnnys memories are wrong” thing is complicated.
Because the game sort of contradicts itself multiple times.
V can mention to the fan vendor that he got split in half, but he relived johhnys memories where that didn’t happen (and believes them during the 2013 tower raid when talking to alt)
Then Johnny’s death. During the flashback Johnny jumps up to the av and gets shot while rogue tries to pick him up.
During the rogue ending when johnny almost falls off the av she yells (not again)
So which version is canon? Johnny dying on the roof or johnny getting split in half by smasher?
Johnny’s memories are pretty misremembered. They’re not factual accounts of what happened via a mixture of the body being cold and irradiated when they made an engram of his mind, his ego reshaping how he interprets the vents, and fifty years sitting in Mikoshi.
