ok but why? Which SSD is w10 bounded and cant install w11 on them?
Mundus6
He probably needs to reformat all of these with Windows 11.

Thats a lot of SATA SSDs right there. Im guessing they are from computers going to the landfill due to not being compatible with windows 11.

I dont get it…… but I will take all of those.

I see a potential fortune in Linux media servers there.

I am still not convinced the system requirements for Win11 are not influenced by the oem’s desire to weed out older devices.

128GB is bearly enough for windows install these days
qwerty_captian
There has to be something else here. No reason to trash the drives because of a software license.

I’d take a few if I could.

Just the start soon 400 million computers will be tossed out because a company with a net worth of 3.38 trillion will not extend support of a operating system that was once stated to be there last os.
I will not be upgrading
dahak777
at SATA 128GB there are not really useful for a lot of people, but you it would make an ideal external hdd, just grab one of those sata to usb enclosures

if there is one thing that will usher in the year of linux it is this.
1. An overwhelming majority of users only need a web browser.
2. Proton is pushing to make linux gaming accessible.
3. I got tired of thinking up points to make my point.

Microsoft: “You cannot install windows 11 without a TPM 2.0 module, it is simply impossible, we will not back down from this requirement”
Windows 10 users: “Oh really? Windows 10 it is”

My work did this recently. I was able to raid the recycle pile with permission and got 25 laptops that were in good condition and reasonably powerful. Secure wiped em, put a mix of W11 and Ubuntu on them and gave them out at my college. Lots of happy CS students got a great upgrade that week.

Upgrading all of them back to windows 7

RIP to those good drives m8, I know it’s regulation stuff and many of them requires a certificate proof of destruction per each serial number of the drives. Heartbreaking but it is what it is.

It is funny to me there is all this “concern” from all these companies to reuse and recycle to “help the planet” but what windows 11 highlights is that it was never about any of that. By setting artificial requirements they just created ton, on tons of e-waste.
I don’t get it. Nvme drives work in Win 10 and Win 11

Some of the hardware being left out is stupid, and some of the hardware being let in is laughable.
My spare Athlon 3150U laptop is supported by Windows 11 but you kind of wish it wasn’t once you try it. Any Windows Update and it TANKS with the CPU stuck at 100% for several minutes. I ended up installing Linux Mint as an experiment and it’s way nicer that way. Some very decent 8th gen i5s and i7s don’t get to have W11 and that’s just idiotic to me.
