Split Fiction was fine I think, The Finals and Arc Raiders from Embark run good too.

UE5 is just a really popular engine in general, mostly for good reason.

Ppl who don’t understand game dev post stuff like this. It’s not the engine fault if a game is poorly optimized, its the devs.
DrTankHead
I love how people are literally shitting or the most advanced gaming engine to date, because some developers aren’t properly using it, and somehow that’s immediately the engine’s fault.
JaggedMetalOs
AAA devs be like: “we’re paying for the whole Unreal engine we’re gonna use the whole Unreal engine!” (checks all the rending and post process effects on)

I recently started playing Fortnite and it’s pretty surprising how poorly that game runs on “Ultra” settings.
I would expect it to be more like Valorant where you turn everything up all the way and still get 500 fps. (Slight exaggeration there, because it is bigger with more scenery detail – But even Apex Legends can be maxed out and get like 300 fps)
The game scales really well, but ultra settings are not worth the hit. I don’t even get 100fps @ 1440p. It’s just bizarre for what it looks like. I expect that more from like, Helldivers 2 that’s built on an old dead engine. But Fortnite is like a flagship game for Unreal and Epic Games.

Ever notice when a game drops a sequal that “looks better” but runs much worse
And then you lower the graphics so it runs better, but now it looks worse then its previous entry
But also still runs worse….

Why did Marvel Rivals use UE5?

You know how too stop this as a consumer?
**Stop Buying and demand change.**
However people will buy it complain and then continue complaining. The psychology of western consumers is pretty brain dead.

Its funny cause till UE3 it was exactly the opposite. When I saw unreal I knew game is gonna look good and play smooth.

I’m straight up just not gonna buy games made in UE5 anymore, they all run like shit

Wait a minute. Are you saying the people who make Fortnite, one of the most poorly optimized games with basic graphics, made a poorly optimized game engine!??!?

UE5 is only a little better than UE4 in realism. That little bit was enough for hollywood to switch to using it but for games 1 frame every 8 to 11 minutes is not acceptable. So game developers tune down the settings on lighting and reduce polygon count to something reasonable like 20k polygons per character. This reduces realism but increases performance by a lot. Video games also seem to not use the A/V sync AI tool but motion capture data most likely as it is used for a game where no one is real instead of finishing a movie where an actor either got fired or died during production.
So Unreal Engine 5 can produce realistic graphics but your frame rate will seem like a slide show as that part of the game engine is made for making movies not making games.

UE5 on it’s own is not the problem here btw.. It has a metric fuck ton of tools that can be used for proper optimization

It’s wild how I can play cyberpunk on its max settings (with quality diss and without ray tracing) just fine on my 3060ti, but I can’t even get a steady 30 fps on the majority of unreal engine 5 games on low and performance diss.

Meanwhile Wuthering Waves runs great even on my smartphone and has breathtaking environments on PC like Avinoleum. It uses Unreal Engine.
It’s not the engine’s fault, it’s how the studios use the engine.

As someone in school for Game Dev and using UE 5.5.4 on a daily basis. I can tell you guys that poor optimization is not taught in school but its a product of a lazy dev or studio.
