Star Citizen is a scam and has been for a very long time. It has been incompetently managed to a staggering degree. Even assuming it ever does go into full release, even assuming it is a true AAAA experience, the amount of wasted time and money to produce it is staggering and demonstrates total ineptitude.
Imagine paying 40 dollars to tweak the stats of your ship lmao. That’s half of a triple A game price.

It’s the most expensive tech demo In existence. I chipped in with like 60 bucks years ago and that is all they will ever get from me.
I mean it’s not a scam. The game exists and you can play it and there IS progress. But how much substance this game actually has besides being a gigantic tech sandbox with impressive graphics.. that is up for debate.
I am a star citizen player and Iove the game even in its current state. But the level of white knighting and gas lighting by many members or the community on this topic is off the charts.

Nothing takes me out of a game faster than some CGI’d celebrity face, that since everyone recognizes, it immediately runs and jumps off the uncanny valley. It’s disturbing, and so unnecessary.

Fact: Chris Roberts is one of the biggest pieces of shit in gaming and the only reason people even consider him is because he made one good game one time so now he thinks he’s the end all be all of space game creators.
He’s just an ego and a prick.
As somebody who plays this game, this is a crying shame. Star Citizen is an incredibly fun game that has made huge progress this year and people are blowing their lid over these flight blades which offer no change to the player experience. It changes some stats by less than 5% and this stuff will all be purchasable in the game with MORE SHIPS ADDED in a few weeks. It’s a freaking crowd funded game and people are complaining about crowd funding? lol. Notice how they’re not complaining about the Idris dropping which costs $1,500-$1,700 and they had sold out in less than a minute. This ship will be earnable in game in a few months. People are just impatient and willing to pay for the latest ship/feature to get it two months early.
For all of those looking in from the outside, you can and should just pay $40 for a starter ship and game package. You can buy/earn nearly every ship in game at the moment and not pay another dollar to CIG. It’s an awesome game that has come a long way and is progressing faster than ever. It’s sad that the progress is being overlooked by a $30 item that all players will have in 2 moths while progress will be wiped for 1.0 anyway.
They have bills to pay and a lot of employees. I get it but this comes at a cost. Perhaps they could have done something different instead. Too late now though.

They sell everything on the store except a working game.
